It's definitely not usual, however Chandler beat former UFC lightweight champs in Bellator before (Eddie Alvarez and Benson Henderson) so he was known in UFC community more than other Bellator fighters, he also has impressive KOs in Bellator, although he himself got KOed by a Bellator featherweight champ in a super fight before, and Will Brooks (who lost to Charles Oliveira in UFC) KOed Chandler in Bellator.
Chandler should thank Dan Hooker for this opportunity, when you KO the no.6 ranked guy in the first round without even getting any damage getting the title shot this early became possible.

I think Chandler by KO/TKO. He seems extremely determined. Dude is a powerhouse too. I think he'll use his wrestling to keep it standing and outstrike Olivera. It's about time Chandler got into the UFC. It would be interesting to see him in with the likes of Poirier and McGregor.

It's happened a couple times. Anderson Silva got a title shot for his 2nd fight in the UFC. Brock Lesnar lost his first fight in the UFC, won his second, and received a title shot after that.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 May 2021, 18:02 how often does a guy fight for a ufc title with only 1 previous ufc fight
Chandler is an established top-level mixed martial artist. It's no surprise he got the shot. Dustin deserves it more. But Dustin says he'd rather fight McGregor than get a title shot. So, it all works out. Either way it will be exciting to see Chandler in with Dustin or Conor.... or both.

He’s been top flight for a while and has some good wins. That was a huge win against Hooker and when they offered Dustin the title fight against Olivera he refused it. The winner of him and Connor fights the new champ. Makes sense to me.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 May 2021, 18:02 how often does a guy fight for a ufc title with only 1 previous ufc fight

It’s the wife I can’t stand. She looks all plastic surgery and has these huge over medicated soulless eyes with a fake grin as she proudly displays her adopted black son for massive virtue signalling points..... it’s all a bit creepy

I wanted Oliveira to win, but I thought Chandler was going to win so I voted for Chandler, never thought Oliveira could win via TKO
Chandler has KO power but his chin is not so good, no wonder he got TKOed before by a featherweight and TKOed by Will Brooks in Bellator, now a jiujitsu grappler guy TKOed him too, everyone thought Oliveira could choke him on the ground via jiujutsu if he gets the chance, but no one thought Oliveira could KO him.

Yup Dana White’s new hope was put to the sword. I agree his chin looks soft. Is Chandler cutting too much weight? He looks big at the weight, albeit he’s short.Tevfik1907 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 07:21 I wanted Oliveira to win, but I thought Chandler was going to win so I voted for Chandler, never thought Oliveira could win via TKO![]()

Good pick RKO.
My picks were all wrong.

Oliveira has always been a decent enough striker and as mentioned on the commentary his technique and fundamentals are pretty good. That left hook was just textbook and he showed that he is an excellent finisher.Tevfik1907 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 07:21 I wanted Oliveira to win, but I thought Chandler was going to win so I voted for Chandler, never thought Oliveira could win via TKO![]()

I've always like Oliveira though and he has done it the hard way IMO. He has been around for a long time and always fought the best or been tested.
Was a bit weird seeing the #3 and #4 ranked guys fighting for the title though. I guess not as weird as McGregor still being ranked at #5 though.

Charles Oliveira is the best fighter. He defeated Chandler and won this fight.
