Robin Reid
Robin Reid
How good was he? Would we look at him differently if he wasn't totally robbed against Ottke?

Re: Robin Reid
He was a good fighter, gave Calzaghe a close fight too, some think he won it. I remember the Ottke fight, the most blatant dodgy refeereing I can remember seeing
Re: Robin Reid
I thought he beat Calzaghe. If you're scoring the rounds separately I felt he took 7-5.
Re: Robin Reid
Very decent fighter...had a mare against Lacy. Didn't he used to go out with Teresa May? And no...not the politician

She was a glamour model wasn’t she, might be true as I remember reading something years ago that he was appearing in “adult type” photographs as a sideline.
Re: Robin Reid
Great fighter on his day. Erratic at the elite level. Had a really good fight with Wharton.

Reid had a point deducted tookeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑28 Nov 2022, 07:56I was there and I thought he won. I watched it without sound and scorer it properly the next day and got 7-5 also.
Re: Robin Reid
Robin was a quality fighter.......very unlucky indeed against Calzaghe and worth noting some big wins on the road.
He busted-up Nardiello for the WBC title and in Italy and also beat Brian Magee in Belfast, tough away days.
Nice guy into the bargain - he was on the Audley Harrison undercard at Wembley Arena - won his fight then came back and signed my programme and told his family/mates to settle down so we could watch Audley blow-out Tim Middleton.

Re: Robin Reid
He couldn't miss Calzaghe with the right hand. Allegedly he didn't have good prep against Lacy before hand. No sparring etc. He had a good run with the ibo and fought some ex champs albeit from lower weights. -
In my old gym there was a poster for a unification he was meant to have with Collins. That would have been a good match up.

It was the win against Reid that made the UK think Calzaghe was going to get hammered off Lacey.wrighty wrote: ↑28 Nov 2022, 19:50 He couldn't miss Calzaghe with the right hand. Re: Robin Reid
That Calzaghe beat down ruined Lacy's entire career
Re: Robin Reid
Lacy was good on his day
Re: Robin Reid
Good shout. Forgot all about that. Been that long since I saw it. Think it was in Newcastle.Controversial wrote: ↑28 Nov 2022, 14:03Reid had a point deducted tookeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑28 Nov 2022, 07:56I was there and I thought he won.
