It isn’t as if Brexit is something to celebrate is it?smiling assassin wrote: ↑09 Jan 2023, 14:37Without Cummings and Johnson, Brexit would of never of happened. They held a lot more power than Farage had or ever will.
It was actually Cameron who took us down that path, in part to fend off an exodus of the far right of the party to a Farage inspired vehicle. Incidentally the same far right members who brought us Liz Truss.
And Brexit was partly won with lies and by stoking division/hatred.
When celebrating/defending Farage remember he stood next to a fake poster purportedly showing immigrants queuing to enter the EU.

Re: John Conteh interview with Farage
Brexit is or was a good thing but what has made it disastrous is that it has been a soft brexit with still some attachment to certain European countries. The reason why it is failing or has not produced the results that it should have is because you can't be out as well as in at the same time.
And I still don't see how Nigel Farage is racist or bigoted but I see people say it all the time. Wanting secure borders and limiting immigration as a whole whether it is legal or illegal is not racist or bigoted it is merely common sense.
From my perspective this notion or idea of multiculturalism ending racism and bigotry has been one of the best intentioned but most misguided of ideals because it has simply not worked. If anything there has been a greater divide.
I can go on and on about other social issues where certain parties felt the need to try to normalize single parent households and the like, only created more of a schism, but it is what it is. You can't legislate morality necessarily, when you have a society that has drifted so far from values and morals.
If the whole of conservatism consisted of nothing but minorities there would still be this notion or idea that they weren't really minorities because they traded in their ethnicity for some sort of whiteness.
Lmao they're simply is no arguing or debating with lily white liberals who are convinced that conservatives of any color are nothing more than oppressors.

For me it's that kind of nonsense that perpetually keeps people divided because it makes any and all attempts of bridging gaps looking like it is completely fake and not genuine therefore everybody is perpetually enemies.Teddy's Toupee wrote: ↑10 Jan 2023, 20:35"Farage is drinking a pint, that proves he's an ordinary bloke. Uncomfortable fact, many ethnic minority areas in the UK voted for Brexit.Frostieballs wrote: ↑11 Jan 2023, 13:03It isn’t as if Brexit is something to celebrate is it?smiling assassin wrote: ↑09 Jan 2023, 14:37Without Cummings and Johnson, Brexit would of never of happened. Re: John Conteh interview with Farage
It is for the bores who claim it was all based on the far right, racism and xenophobia. And in an effort to keep this to boxing, it's why people like Conteh are very happy to talk to Farage.

It is undeniable that immigration was a major factor behind many voting leave - apparently we were going to take back control of our borders by distancing ourselves from the nations with borders closest to us! Immigration fears were stoked by lies - about Turkey, the famous poster etc.
Another large part was dissatisfaction with living standards, the elite, politicians etc. completely understandable.

Yeah strange how the clip seems to have vanished, it was quite funny as I recall.Syntax Error wrote: ↑09 Jan 2023, 12:08Haye would be too big for Conteh.
I vaguely remember the Ali/Conteh clip you're talking about.
Conteh was a handsome and flash playboy back in the day and Ali came over to England and they were on the same show and I think John started to rib Ali about him being better looking than Muhammad.![]()
Not sure why people are getting so heated over Farage interviewing Conteh, he enjoys his boxing, here he is interviewing his good pal Chizza from a few years ago:

"Up the RA"- Nigel Farage
Seriously he's never heard that before?? But the fact that he was ignorant enough to be paid to say it sums up his great British integrity eh??

Why are people so hung up about Farage. He's friends with Chisora, interviewed Duke McKenzie and now John Conteh, who are all people of colour. What's wrong with lawfully opposing Mass legal and illegal immigration and the EU. We're meant to live in a democracy where you abide the different opinions of others. The left wing fascists commenting on here should take their prejudices elsewhere.

I’m not a fan and generally pro eu. But I couldn’t believe when some remainers asked for a revote.

Bet Farage and his mates made a packet shorting the pound. I realised a revote would be bad but I was furious at the beginning of a Uk in freefall and still is and been promised a free weekly shop but instead getting a maxed out credit card on some magic beans.high tower 1 wrote: ↑21 Jan 2023, 11:15 I’m not a fan and generally pro eu. Your point is. Left wing people can be fascistic.

Maybe more brits just didn’t want to be part of the EU and have total autonomy ?leelee88 wrote: ↑21 Jan 2023, 12:08Bet Farage and his mates made a packet shorting the pound. Re: John Conteh interview with Farage
Yeah leave was confident of that hense the fraud and the dirtiest campaign to date and we don't have total autonomy because we need to trade. at no point was leaving the CU and SM said in the leave campaign because would have become a loss or narrowed the thin gap. The abuse which remain gets for a revote Farage is on record saying he will still grift for another vote if leave had lost.high tower 1 wrote: ↑21 Jan 2023, 13:54Maybe more brits just didn’t want to be part of the EU and have total autonomy ?leelee88 wrote: ↑21 Jan 2023, 12:08Bet Farage and his mates made a packet shorting the pound. Re: John Conteh interview with Farage
Please. This is a boxing forum and Farage is friendly with three boxers of colour who he has interviewed. How has this gone off topic. As if Remain were not dirty, and the media were so Pro Remain it was untrue. Cameron even spent tax payers money on a Pro Remain literature campaign. Concentrate on boxing and cry your EU tears elsewhere.leelee88 wrote: ↑21 Jan 2023, 19:54Yeah leave was confident of that hense the fraud and the dirtiest campaign to date and we don't have total autonomy because we need to trade. at no point was leaving the CU and SM said in the leave campaign because would have become a loss or narrowed the thin gap. rather ironic that people making numerous posts about political issues in this thread, clearly unable to keep it to themselves, are telling people to concentrate on boxing LUL
there's a political forum here, how about you take it there, whether you're an eu simp or a leaving cuck

Re: John Conteh interview with Farage
Why is it hard to believe that people who could foresee the coming problems would have tried to avert them? If a group I am a member of decides to eat poison in the belief it won't hurt them, it is not incumbent on me to abide by their decision. I may never have thought they should have been given that decision to make in the first place.high tower 1 wrote: ↑21 Jan 2023, 11:15 I’m not a fan and generally pro eu. It may be wrong in a democracy to try and force your way of doing things on people by violence, but it can never, ever be wrong to argue for it, no matter what votes have been taken or which way they have gone. In fact democracy depends on people doing that.
