Have we 'Jumped the Shark'?

Post by Grant »

Ty Narkle 2 0 0 VS 10 Rocky Ogden 1 0 0
Australian Feather (vacant) (supervisor: John Hogg)

Rebecca Hawker 5 0 0 10x2 Hollie Towl debut
Women's International Boxing Association World Feather (supervisor: John Hogg)

Two things, How Valuable is the Australian Featherweight title now?
Once held by Paul Ferrari and I imagine Johnny Famechon is now being fought for by fighters 2-0 and 1-0?
Don't get me wrong I hope it's a good contest and I wish the lads well in their futures but for an Australian Title?
Is it so easy to buy a title fight?

And also I am a fan of Women's boxing, Susie Ramadan and Shotgun Sharon amongst others, But it's hard to convince other fans to come on board when you have a 'World' title fight on debut.

I wish the promotors would be more realistic

towl, the 0-0 bird, is actually the champ. she is 8-0 but boxrec doesnt recognize the biba commission that sanctioned her previous fights. also looking at her am record on boxrec, she should be of good quality.

Is Biba legit enough that they should count? you know of any current high levle pros that have Biba fights?

Seems so weird how boxrec seemingly decide whats legit and whats not.

As bad as it is in Australia, it's even worse here in Canada. We had a brief burst of fighting a few years ago with Denton Daley, but no one is making the news these days. Our media is absorbed with hockey, basketball and baseball.

IIRC you can't hold an Australian title and regional title at the same time. Regional titles get you ranked and are far more plentiful. If you're going to have a tough fight (not that all regional title fights are) might as well make it one that gets you a world ranking.
