Re: Boxers pay
This is an interesting thread.
How much would Campbell Hatton have been paid for his debut as it was a big feature for the show?
Or what about his 2nd fight when he came in after Bivol and before the main event?
Surely if you’re so high up the bill you can ask for more money?

Re: Boxers pay
How much do people reckon Azim got for headlining his last show? £100-150k?
What about someone like Tyler Denny, taking quite a few English title defences 3rd or 4th from the top of the bill, 30/40?

Re: Boxers pay
I wouldn't think it would be that much tbh, especially Tyler Denny i reckon will be on about a 1/3 of that. (Not guaranteed but just from what I have seen in the past) and won't include any commission from ticket sales.

Re: Boxers pay
A lot of fighters are on ticket deals, for the likes of Johnny Fisher that should mean he will be a millionaire before he does an 8 rounder.
For most it means getting enough to pay for the opponent.
Selling 50-100 tickets, esp in working class communities, is actually really hard work.

Re: Boxers pay
That's pretty surprising, considering he fights probably 3 times a year, is likely a full-time pro, and has to pay expenses etc, to make only £15,000 a fight (I know £45k all told is pretty good money) is lower than I'd have expected. Fair play though.

Not even remotely close that kind of figure. Knock the zeros off and you'd be closer to reality.

How much do boxers make with Sporting Clubs compared to journeymen who are at a British title standard ? I do remember when Ken Buchanan was fighting in Britain he was signed to a sporting club. We;ve still got one in Glasgow

though as a spectator sat at home watching it on television it's an acquired taste and it's probably the same for the boxers. Few of the attendees seem to be interested in the fights and is basically a corporate event. Also I do remember British lightweight champ at the time Steve Boyle complaining that spectators cigar smoke was getting in to his eyes and affected his performance in a particular fight. These type of events have all the atmosphere of the Moon

Hi Lee - may I politely disagree. The trainer's 10% is off the gross purse, but the fighter then deducts their expenses and the manager's 25% comes off the net. So if the purse is 1K, fighter has £100 of expenses, then it would be £100 for the trainer as 10%, leaving £900, expenses off leaves £800, manager's 25% is £200. Always worth fighter's checking they have not overpaid their manager...leejonesjnr wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 14:43Percentages are from the top lineCaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 10:07 A trainer 10% seems fair enough but a manager getting 25% is surely way too high.
Are these percentages calculated from the initial purse or after all the camp expenses have been deducted ? I suspect it’s the former but it really should be the latter.
PS - I love this thread, every time it gets resurrected. The best I can say about some of the purse guesses is "economically unrealistic".
