WBF featherweight champ Elina Tissen lost to opponent with 6-6-2 record

Enerolisa de Leon won by TKO in the ninth round. Tissen's corner stopped the fight after the end of the eighth round.

I wrote about her when I was a boxing writer. She was a paper champion and the result in this fight is evidence of that.

The WBO has their own women's world ratings for the first time ever. It is dated February 2023. Elina Tissen is rated No. 10 by the WBO in the featherweight division despite losing in November 2022 to Enerolisa de Leon and the WBO doesn't even rate de Leon! I guess the WBO thinks Tissen's loss was a fluke or maybe the WBO wants to give her a title shot in the near future. Amanda Serrano is the WBO super champion and Brenda Carbajal is the interim WBO champion. I wonder if the WBO's intent is for Carbajal to defend her interim title against Tissen.

I'm reminded of when Wilshaun Boxley fought some highly touted French Canadian on the show I made my pro debut on. They picked the wrong cherry pick, cus Wilshaun kicked his ass and was robbed on the scorecards and everybody in the arena started shouting, "Bullshit!"

Just because somebody has a .500 record does not mean they are a bum. Somebody made a bad match making choice. I guarantee that 6-6-2 woman lost all her fights by decision, and truth is probably bullshit decisions. This is why it should be mandatory that all fights are filmed and cataloged so people can properly arrange fights.

I agree with you. She did lose all her fights by decision. It was the wrong cherry pick for Tissen. They wanted someone older than her and she is 41 years old. Tissen is 36. They filmed the fight, but it will probably never be released publicly. Tissen's last three fights were in her own boxing gym. They can justify this because of covid and that they don't want a large audience. Highlights (meaning only when Tissen landed a punch) were shown on the Internet of the first of these three fights with a limited audience. Her opponent was barely over .500 with a 10-9-2 record and this was for the vacant WBF world featherweight title. The WBF is a minor sanctioning body. Tissen won by unanimous decision. The second opponent had a 4-2 record and is 41 years old. Tissen again won by unanimous decision.

They tried again with another 41-year-old boxer, but it was the wrong cherry pick as you stated. The boxer with a 6-6-2 record only won because she was able to win by knockout (TKO 9). If the fight went the distance which is 10 rounds for women, then Tissen would have likely won. I do not know for sure regarding these WBF title fights, but in previous world title fights not involving the WBF, the sanctioning bodies allowed Tissen's trainer/manager to select not only the opponents, but also the judges and there is at least one instance in which a sanctioning body allowed the anti-doping test to be waived.

This sanctioning body (which is now under new ownership) also admitted several years ago that Tissen is not really a world-class boxer. How is she able to win on the rare occasion that she fights world-class boxers? She just has to go the distance because the judges are almost always in her favor (at least two out of the three judges). Why is she still rated as a top ten contender? Ring magazine rated her in their top 5 for female featherweights before this recent loss, but the WBO currently rates her No. 10 in spite of the loss. It would be great if all fights were filmed and shown on the Internet, especially for world title fights, but I don't see that happening.

A short documentary was being filmed about this fight. I guess Tissen's handlers assumed she would win easily. Only about a minute of the fight is shown, but it includes the stoppage.
