As someone who participated in the Olympics as an official, I say good. There has always been too much corruption and that corruption can be traced back to the same countries. You can guess which ones. Time for a clean start without the corrupt countries involved. What do you think TT?

I don't think it's as simple as pointing fingers at 'obvious' countries and reaching the conclusion that working without them on board would solve the issue of corruption.
My experience from here in the UK whilst trying to challenge improper practices, proved that even the good and true will happily wear blinkers. AIBA had 'Brits' working in multiple key positions throughout the reign of CK Wu. The BBC challenged AIBA twice, questions were raised from grass roots to government level and nothing was done, even Wu failed to act on his legal posturing threats. At the time he was a major player at the IOC. International sport stinks and for the USA and others to believe that setting up an alternative organisation will make much difference is more than a tad hopeful!

The corruption goes back through most of AIBA's reigning leaders especially Chowdhry and everyone after him including Wu and Rakhimov. What USA and the UK with the other countries is doing is a start. The only way it will work is if the IOC gives recognition to the new organization and says it will no longer have anything to do with the IBA and countries leave IBA and come over to the new governing body. Having competing governing bodies like in pro boxing is terrible. In this case, it's hopefully one without corruption trying to rid a corrupt organization. It will be interesting to see if it works. USAB has it's own internal problems that IMO is hurting boxing on the local and national level. But that's another story.

This is a more complicated matter than it looks on the surface.
Corruption is not an issue only for the international boxing community.
Corruption is present in all major sports. Remember how the World Cup in football/soccer ended up in Qatar.

The key question is how the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will react.
It sets a dangerous precedent if they give their nod to a rival organisation.
Other sports federations may begin to break away.
An uncontrollable chaos would follow.

So far only a handful of national boxing federation follow the secessionists.

Well, it happened...

"The International Olympic Committee executive board on Wednesday recommended withdrawing recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA) over its failure to meet a set of reforms, the Olympic body said in a statement."

Just wanted to add that the IOC statement guaranteed that boxing will be on the programme for 2028 LA Olympics
