Fury. The legacy
Re: Fury. The legacy
It's not where the title is win - but quality of fighter they beat.
Wlad was right at the end - Fury stank the place out (Wlad did his bit too) and did just enough to win .. Fury is the only person to beat Wlad who was unable to stop him ..
Wilder has not beaten anyone of note. The Buck Smith of the heavyweight division.

I’d dispute wlad Was “on a huge decline”.si7dog7 wrote: ↑14 Jul 2023, 18:35 So where does Fury really rate in the pantheon of Heavyweight Champions?

He’s beaten the biggest puncher “ever” in Wilder, 2.5 times.
Other than that. Chisora x 3.
And……. Not much else
I got him about top 60 l

Joshua ko’d Wlad in his very next fight. Probably landed more punches in 2 rounds than Fury did in the entire fight. Does that make AJ an ATG?

He definitely took more damage against AJ.

I see Joshua's little muppet gang are out in force talking crap about Fury vs Ngannou fight. The outcome of August 12th will be interesting.
Fury is winning the Hearts and Minds of the people and the rivals are doing everything to discredit him.
Fury has Klitschko and Wilder on his resume which clearly surpasses that other fellow (Name in America aswell)unlike someone.

You need to relax, have a smoke and enjoy the weekend. Don't be so butt hurt. Just concentrate on your idol next month.

The way femi talks, that boy got a problem every time he's interviewed. He been reading too many prepared sports institute scripts - in the end it just doesn't come out right.

Re: Fury. The legacy
Joshua's team offered Wilder a contract that is fact, ask Deontay, he admitted it
Joshua signed to fight Fury before the gypsy king backed out, also fact, before we talk about him being tied up to fight Wilder a third time and arbitrations etc, ask yourself why Fury poo poo'd the idea of Matchroom an the Saudis doing a deal for months in the lead up until the EXACT same day the arbitratior ruled in Wilder's favour when all of a sudden Fury suddenly come around to wanting to fight AJ, only an idiot would believe that Fury would announce the Joshua fight the very same day as the ruling went against him, not to mention offering Wilder step aside money was never an option, Arum admitted as such

Knock getting knocked down is far more impressive than getting off the deck.mickey1975 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 03:01 How many won their title away from home (twice), climed off the deck to win, dethroned a peak, undefeated knockout artist and were big underdogs in their attempts?
Re: Fury. The legacy
Fury is a proven drugs cheat and that means his legacy will be forever tarnished by that. He didn't feel confident enough in his own abilities, that he had to revert to cheating.

Being dropped by people as terrible as Neven Pajkic is something really special and so is (consensus) losing to John McDermott. Ass that to the cheating and what have ya got? Not a lot.mickey1975 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 09:20Good point. A few posts ago winning a rematch in a devasting fashion was a sure sign of a ATG.1194265 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 09:28Being dropped by people as terrible as Neven Pajkic is something really special and so is (consensus) losing to John McDermott. Luke Fury, your idol, cheated his way to the top and now fights a debutant in a real boxing match, not an exhibition. How very proud you must be.mickey1975 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 09:40A few posts ago winning a rematch in a devasting fashion was a sure sign of a ATG.

In cycling he’d be more a Marco Pantani, than a Lance Armstrong.

You can't factor in head to head and have extremely rose tinted glasses. You're also re-writting history. This is a Wlad who barely lost a round in about a decade. Outboxing him gets brushed off way too easily. It's a monumental feat. Outboxing arguably the best outside boxer ever from range. I realise it didn't look pretty but the technical level for men of their size was immensesi7dog7 wrote: ↑14 Jul 2023, 18:35 So where does Fury really rate in the pantheon of Heavyweight Champions?

The other thing that gets ignored with Fury is that both Klitschko's avoided him for years. Vitali fought Chisora in 2012 who Fury dominated in 2011. Fury doesn't get his shot until 2015
I will say I'm painfully disapointed we didn't see Fury in with Haye, Vitali or Wlad a second time. the same with AJ and Usyk. I just hope he has a Calzaghesque end to his career and faces the big guns of his division.
Re: Fury. The legacy
Pantani was and still is loved .. drug cheat like his contemporaries - but hugely popular stillpolecateddy wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 09:50 In cycling he’d be more a Marco Pantani, than a Lance Armstrong.
Fury would be the Floyd Landis. Another drug cheat who ultimately amounted to little by end of his career.
Re: Fury. The legacy
What a load of nonsense. Wlad's people reached out to Hennessy several times and were told "He's not ready."Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 09:52The other thing that gets ignored with Fury is that both Klitschko's avoided him for years.si7dog7 wrote: ↑14 Jul 2023, 18:35 So where does Fury really rate in the pantheon of Heavyweight Champions?

Fury waited until Wlad was old and Luke still needed PEDs to beat him.
