Or another rephrased version of this based questioning, would obviously be, what drives someone who's pre-suppositioned to training with weights to decide to also do martial arts, or boxing...?!
I think that the latter would be, for the reason of having an insatiable desire to fight better, especially in a street-fight situation (Example-A proverbial Bodybuilder type who wants that extra confidence while working as a Bouncer).
As for someone who's first and foremost either an avidly consistent Martial arts practitioner(Example-A relatively dedicated and consistent Tkd student for at least a year or so/thereabouts) or an avid Boxer(Example-Someone who, at least, frequents the boxing gym to spar a few rounds on a relatively consistent basis). Or even an MMA gym-rat/Ju-Jitsu gym-rat...?!
What would weight training serve to benefit someone who's first and foremost into, basically "Sport Fighting"..?!
I left out high school and collegiante competitive Wrestlers, because, well, with those fellas, weights are just there to use, in they're specific training areas, just Like with American Football players. Whether they're Hs, collegiante, or pro.
Going back to the competitive striker based fighters though. What's the appeal and need for weight training..?!
Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, are the most proverbial examples for Boxing.
In Kickboxing, and other martial arts competition, there were certain standouts. Not very many though.
With just simply the category of Martial arts practitioners, or on screen action actors, that's where using weights in training becomes So incredibly Obviously Insaitably Mandatory.
Bruce Lee set the stage for The influence of The Buff or Ripped on screen Martial Artist practitioner/actor.
Steve Reeves set the stage for The insaitable influence of the Muscular build Action film/Actor.
Weismuller as Tarzan, and Sabu, in The Jungle Book, they were both Marvelous physical specimens in they're own right, but they were both basically built like Athletes(Lean and Fit Athletes)who didn't use/incorporate weight-training.
What drives a Martial artist, or Boxer, to incorporate weight training..?

anything explosive. basically olympic lifting. anything that is either throwing something out at max capacity of pulling something fully.

I’m sure some fighters do it because other fighters do it and they are told you have to do it as well.
Tyson in his youth never did weights. Neither did SRL or Hearns. Kronk fighters in general didn’t do any weight training afaik. Didn’t hurt them much.

Might have helped Milton McCrory vs Colin Jones, however.
