This Saudi in December thing has been talked about since April. It is now mid July and as far as we know, Joshua has not received a written offer, Wilder has not received a written offer and Fury has not received a written offer,

Boxers/managers/promoters not making the biggest fights when it matters allowed these Saudis and co to come in and take over, sometimes I wonder if Dana White has it right, pay them minimum and tell them who their fighting , too many egotistical premadonnas who believe their worth far more than they are, we need one outfit pulling the strings, it would have to be Matchroom, Eddie's not everyones cup of tea but no one can question his desire and work ethic, they put on most shows
Oscar's on the way out, Bob can't have long left surely and not sure where Top Rank are without him, Warren's on the home straight and Al Haymon only promotes black Americans plus none of his guys fight
Matchroom are busiest, most diverse, do more woman's boxing and the little guys, nobodys perfect but I don't care about perfect I just want someone to take over even it was Oscar snorted out his brains, it's a mess overall

They have put on a few fights in years. It's hardly a takeover. The thought of the Saudi money seems a bigger distraction than it actually happening.handsofstone wrote: ↑18 Jul 2023, 10:22 Boxers/managers/promoters not making the biggest fights when it matters allowed these Saudis and co to come in and take over, sometimes I wonder if Dana White has it right, pay them minimum and tell them who their fighting , too many egotistical premadonnas who believe their worth far more than they are, we need one outfit pulling the strings, it would have to be Matchroom, Eddie's not everyones cup of tea but no one can question his desire and work ethic, they put on most shows

its certainly had an effect at HW - suddenly dangling a mega carrott would be the same in most situations or business - greener grass .
I wouldnt be at all surprised if they started courting fighters like Canelo / Bivol / Betrbiev and on down through the weight classes to establish some kind of regular fight schedule in due course .
its confetti money until the oil dries up - and then hardly anybody will want to be there / go there or live there

Aye I suppose that's true enough I've never been one for bothering where a fight is, as long as it's at a decent timemickey1975 wrote: ↑18 Jul 2023, 10:41They have put on a few fights in years. Re: So this Saudi deal....
Hearn now saying he thinks "it is very likely Joshua-Wilder will be in January, not December."
To our knowledge, after all this time and talk, nobody has even received a written offer.
Is this thing just a mirage in the desert?

If Wider vs Joshua is going to take place. Hearn will need to promote it.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑31 Jul 2023, 23:07 Hearn now saying he thinks "it is very likely Joshua-Wilder will be in January, not December."

I just do not see it happening in Saudi. Hell I doubt it even happens

It won't be a Matchroom show. Hearn has already lied again after guaranteeing AJ would be out three times this year. Franklin and Whyte is hardly a punishing schedule.tiny_acres wrote: ↑31 Jul 2023, 23:18If Wider vs Joshua is going to take place. I guess one of the alteratives was to have 0 fights against ranked opposition.

Latest on this mirage in the Saudi desert is Hearn saying if Joshua-Wilder isn't tied up in the next 2 or 3 weeks he will look for another fight for Joshua late this year.
This thing has dragged on way too long. It is time the Saudis put up or shut up.
There's going to be a lot of egg on a lot of faces if this Saudi thing amounts to nothing.

Well a week of Hearns '2-3 weeks and we will do something else' has gone and nothing. Not even a murmur.

Re: So this Saudi deal....
Both Joshua and Wilder spoke about it a few days ago with the rumour being the Saudi's are wanting to put it on with Fury v Usyk. So it might all depend on Fury being able to dodge pro novice Ngannou's bombs for 10 rounds in October.

Fury-Ngannou is on October 28th. That's 2 months away and a whole lot different to Hearn's '2-3 weeks or we move on'. Which is effectively only 1-2 weeks away. The Gratest wrote: ↑29 Aug 2023, 05:16 Both Joshua and Wilder spoke about it a few days ago with the rumour being the Saudi's are wanting to put it on with Fury v Usyk. You wrote it as a 'quote'. Has he updated his statement to '1-2 weeks or we move on'? If not, I can see what you failed at.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑29 Aug 2023, 05:27HELLO! I'll do the maths for you because it is obviously beyond you :
2-3 weeks less a week = 1-2 weeks :OhYes:

Re: So this Saudi deal....
I get that part.
Why aren't you understanding the part about 'quotes'?
Anyway, aren't you the poster who classed Washington as a joke opponent at a weeks notice for Joshua...yet classed Washington as a decent opponent for Wilder...but picks Wilder to KO Joshua?
Yup, says it all really. Off to bed you go now before your blood pressure gets too high.

Its just over 2 weeks since AJ’s last fight so I’d be surprised if anything had been sorted/announced by now.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑29 Aug 2023, 05:04 Well a week of Hearns '2-3 weeks and we will do something else' has gone and nothing. Not even a murmur.
Eddie just over promises with stuff like this. Every time I hear him say ‘will be announced in a couple of weeks’ I just ignore it. He’s a promoter and that’s what they do.
It must be difficult to work with the Saudis. Been talking about this December card for the last 6 months yet seemingly no contract has been signed. You know if it happens then it’s a massive pot of money so to walk away and go for something must be hard for someone so driven by money like Eddie is.

If Fury Usyk can't happen soon just do Wilder Joshua and put on a decent undercard and do the other as a different event.
