Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
Listened to this one in the past week. Really interesting insight into use of PEDS and about how little testing there was, to the point where he did not even bother using pre-fight protocol to come off or mask them. Really intelligent insight and knowledge too as his degree is in pharmaceutical chemistry. Would make a good memoir what with the prison stint, boxing and now acting. He did seem to talk a lot about how it's a bit terrible that you can't whack kids these day though, which made me chuckle. He also says his Nigerian strict upbringing taught him right from wrong which is at odds with the prison stint for robbing brothels, and the PED use. I liked him though, interesting and intelligent.Coco wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 19:02Much boxing stuff?Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 17:34Hour and a half in, absolutely fascinating stuff.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 14:30 Just seen Larry O episode dropped this afternoon. Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
Going back a few years Larry used to post on a popular weights/body building forum - under his own name talking about gear!
And it still took the BBBofC years to test him,
I also remember Boomer on this site saying how him and Larry were big mates - I think this was fefore he decided he didn't like PED users (excluding his big mate AJ obviously - err allegedly)

Listen to Victor Conte on Boxing News podcast, he really has knows his stuff on PEDS and you come away thinking how easy it is to cheat with the right knowledge and connections.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑13 Sep 2023, 15:37Listened to this one in the past week. Also listening to the audiobook of Damage. I’ve had the paperback in the boot of my car for months but as a man who continued boxing after two bleeds, I haven’t been in a rush to read it.
Interesting stuff.
You wouldn't think it from the stupid comments I make on here when idiots post nonsense but I am actually quite an intelligent man, so I am also extra stupid for boxing at all.
Stupid Naaaw , just addicted to something be it the physical side or the mental side , something got ya

agreed, have spoken with Conte a few times when competing in strongman, genius in terms of anabolic compounds. He has advised over 30+ Olympic sprint athletes, only 4 have failed tests. His protocol are still heavily used.Controversial wrote: ↑13 Sep 2023, 20:45Listen to Victor Conte on Boxing News podcast, he really has knows his stuff on PEDS and you come away thinking how easy it is to cheat with the right knowledge and connections.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑13 Sep 2023, 15:37Listened to this one in the past week. You’ll find some articles etc about me, some about a tiny wee unlicensed div, some about a guy running an Am club in Liverpool and some scumbag bare knuckle guy who is or was in prison for taking someone’s eye out.
I do run a charity with Max Maxwell, part of which is an amateur boxing club. I also do free boxing training 1-2-1s with SEN and disabled children.

Mark De Mori was promotor and headliner, I was chief support.
It was outdoors by the ocean in a mini coliseum at a marina full of mega yachts.
Spent a bit of time with Paul Zanon who was there for Boxing Monthly.

Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
My BLS shouts are mainly locally biased but I'd love to see:
Dec Spelman - fought Yarde, Arthur, Pitters, Zorro, won English title, was in a fight of the year that Hauser wrote about, in that tragic fight where a life was lost and was so dignified after and respectful, and had his career cut short due to brain scan issue, now training a BKB champ. Loved watching him live, proper warrior.
Jody Meikle - One Man Riot will be interesting, character and has moved into BKB. His brother was a good pro too in 80s/90s. Funny prison stories too.
Lee Swaby - good cruiser who gave Enzo his first KO loss on BBC, fought for British title, then journey into HW with fights against Gerber, Fury, etc, and won Area title.
Femi Fehintola - good domestic fighter in some excellent fights, birth father was a once famous photographer who did a TV programme exploring addiction and descended into addiction during it, Femi battled his own addiction issues post-career but is now in recovery and thriving
