What a sad day for UK boxing.

No point going into a rant about it.

Saw an interview where Hearn says 'if you want the facts read the newspaper'

Hearn still pretending Benn is all cleared. If that was the truth and it isn't, why has Benn snuck off to Florida to fight?

If Hearn shook my hand l would count my fingers afterwards.

Eddie is playing the game. He is saying Benn is cleared meaning he is cleared to fight. That is technically correct as he isn’t suspended by UKAD.

Robert Smith is saying Benn isn’t cleared which is technically correct as he isn’t cleared to fight in the U.K. as he doesn’t have a license in the U.K. and they are appealing the NADP decision.

It’s still a mess and hopefully we don’t have long before the appeal is heard as it’s dragging on far too long. Warren did a load of YouTube interviews yesterday pushing the Joyce fight. Pretty much all of them had ‘Benn’ in the video titles.

Interestingly Eddie is still maintaining that Benn wasn’t cleared due to jurisdiction. Everyone else is saying/implying that’s the reason. I’d think an awful lot less of Eddie if he’s simply lied about this. Perhaps Benn was cleared for a combination of things.

Eddie’s referring to the Sunday Times article from Matt Lawton. He interviewed the guy who conducted the research re: being able to tell whether the clomiphene came from eggs or another source. If, and it’s a big if, what he says is accurate then it sounds like a genuine reason to a non-scientific person like myself. Whether it holds up to scrutiny from other experts in the field may be a different story.

Either way I’d just like it resolved either way now ASAP.

It’s not just Gareth. Matt Lawton did a piece about it in the Times. It’s an interesting read.

He also spoke to TalkSPORT about it. It gave me the impression that Lawton now actually believes that Benn didn’t intentionally take it.

I think probably the scientists at UKAD will be of a much higher calibre than the Mickey Mouse parade Conor Benn’s team have paid off. Presumably they’ll just debunk the eggs nonsense once and for all at some point. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a boxer come across as less popular than Conor Benn with the British Boxing Board of Control. I think it’s laughable that Hearn and Co would think a Benn British licence is going to happen ever again really.

The problem with his excuse his body naturally produces it is why didn’t it happen before and what happens if it happens again, are they just meant to ignore it?
