Sergio Martinez vs Erislandy Lara

Martinez of the Chavez fight versus a 155lbs Lara of the Canelo fight.

I'd favor Martinez. Quicker offensive bursts, more power, more speed. Lara was a better defender. Probably overall better technique, but I feel like Martinez would be pressing the action more and would win a decision.

Martinez was very unorthodox had rapid reflexes and could punch. It wouldn't be easy against a 'classic' boxer but Sergio had some fine skills, enough to take a close UD, imo.

Took some time to think over the fight, after making this thread. I really find this pairing interesting, because both men could actually become a real stylistic headache for each other.

Lara could've struggled with Martinez' dynamism and workrate. While Martinez, as mentioned by NazNaci1, could've struggled against a "classic boxer" (moreover, a fellow southpaw with good timing and better defense).

I actually see Lara landing better/cleaner single shots throughout the course of the fight, but also not letting his hands go enough and getting outworked. Cuban may wind up losing another debatable SD/MD.
