Algerian boxer Imane Khelif hits women's boxing with a low blow.

Post by pound per pound »

He / She is a XY male chromosome and has an escalated level of male testosterone. Just look at him / her. She has no breast development as her opponents do. His / her arms are rather muscled up.. She may be a rare genetic freak with internal testicles.

Take a medical test and shut people up. Answer has she ever measturated and let science determine if she does in fact have internal testes instead of ovaries. That will explain a lot. And give Khelif a hug. She was born this way.

HBO did a special on its award winning program Real Sports which has concluded its 20+ year run. A aired show a year ago featured Women who have been banned from track and field and have um well you know. Now it is badly edited post release if you can watch it at all.

Nothing against Kheilf, its fairness that is at stake. My solution is to give two gold medals out. One to the XY, the other to the XX.

Hopefully this does not happen again.

The IBA isn't even sure what tests it gave, giving several different answers and contradicting themselves continually - for example denying that testosterone was assessed, then saying it was, then saying it wasn't. How can you be sure what the tests were if not even they are?

They also refuse to release the test reports, citing confidentiality and the sensitivity of the situation, yet have attacked Khelif, doxed their personal contact info, called them dishonest about their sex, and held press conferences about their medical situation. Ya, a lot of sensitivity shown there.

The IBA paying the Italian quitter and their team $100k and then plastering them all over their homepage was laughable and clearly a PR move. All 3 of Khelif's subsequent opponents and nearly all her opponents in general went the distance, the quitter doesn't deserve anything.

This is more about IBA vs IOC than anything else. The IBA president is a tad unhinged and has called the IOC 'sodomites', saying that their president needs to wear diapers because he shits himself like a coward. Reminder, the IBA is so corrupt they are the only governing body in Olympic history, in any sport, to be removed. They took that decision to court and lost that too.

If the IBA really has this hard evidence of Khelif being intersex, and hell it may be true, they could do a far, far better job presenting their case. They just look like clowns and if anything have made Khelif into a global star that people sympathize with.

If women's boxing is hit by a low blow, it's not by Khelif, but by the larger powers involved. Blaming Khelif misses the point by a mile.

tons of high level female athletes dont have a rack and are ripped by the way, not that 'no rack' would ever hold up as evidence anyway

being 6'2+ giants like some of these female athletes (or 6'9 like some of the ballers), or 200+ pound monsters like in some of the power events, is far more unusual for women than having tiny breasts

The "quitter" basically made an in ring protest at what she saw as unfairness. The context was the last 16.

The next of Khelif's opponents made a public statement that it was unfair that she had to fight Khelif next, but said she would try to win. Quarter finals is one fight away from the medals, after all

no need for quotation marks, she flat out quit in about 40 seconds, saying the punch hurt her too much. it wasnt the ref saying she'd taken too much, a doctor didnt intervene, no towel came in, it was carini herself who turned away and, 40 seconds into the world's biggest competition said enough. if thats not a quit nothing is. and now she says she regrets how she acted and that she was disrespectful. she since apologized,

nearly all of khelif's documented opponents have gone the distance with her, 40 seconds is shameful. i give much more credit to opponents who actually tried to win, like at least 9 others have accomplished vs khelif. if anyone deserves a gold medal payout for fighting khelif, the italian quitter is that last one who should have gotten it

“I got into the ring to fight. I didn’t give up. But one punch hurt too much and so I said, ‘Enough.’ I’m going out with my head held high,” Carini said after literally quitting the match
indeed, quite the mentality from a boxer :-?

"We don’t even know what test the International Boxing Association gave the formerly disqualified women’s boxer.
...
Angela Carini can cry harder. She’s nothing, and she’ll never be anything of any relevance outside of the fame received from crying like a baby over getting tagged in the face, and walking away without a scratch in the Goddamn Olympics for crying out loud. Some people just don’t belong in the ring."
As I said, apologizing seems sensible

Did read something about both of them retaining legal counsel, both Algeria and Taiwan have suggested legal action, and Taiwan's government have been involved in their fighters case. Taiwan are absolutely fuming having done their own tests last year, and had Yu Ting tested as part of the Asian Games in Guangzhou last year (and Guangzhou - China, are obviously going to take the side of a Taiwanese athlete...).

It's amazing people believe Kremlev on what he says, given him and Chris Roberts kept contradicting each other on what was tested for, couldn't name the labs used for testing, kept trying to hide behind confidentiality, despite breaching it with the XY comments, and Kremlev's on going tirade's against "Sodomite" Thomas Bach, and saying Taiwan is part of China (which was also his "favourite country").

Hopefully they fornicating clean a few individuals out of pocket after this whole bull shit. It's like sports learned nothing at all from the Ewa Kłobukowska case around 60 years ago. She should have dominated the sporting world for years, but was given shit after a wrong result, ostracised, forced to retire then had a fornicating kid.

Just to add - YES we need male and female sports to be separated, and yes we need some sort of testing at some point (not just what it says on a passport), to determine gender, but fornicate knows what a male and a female actually are. That is science well beyond me. It's not as simple as chromosomes (we can get XX Males, XO, XXY, XXXYY, XYY among others), it's not as simple as testosterone levels (especially as these aren't static, and can be affected by medical issues including PCOS, tumours and Hirsutism), it's also not just "well they have an Adam's apple, duh". We need to embrace science, and let the science lead the way rather than pretending a 6th grade understanding of gender is good enough. The IBA method of Chromosome testing would actually allow XX males to fight women, which seems to be a massive issue with their rules.

Science is fornicating complicated, people are complex, people often don't realise how complex they actually are (as known by the fact we really don't know how prevalent people with XX Male, XXY and XYY are out there as they live normal lives), and we are trying to boil this entire conversation down to an awfully basic binary.

It maybe a case that the sporting bodies, with help of the IOC and NOC's need to essentially "break the bank", and genetically test every athlete (not just females (or at least boxers as we know that IBA's definition of a male is XY, not allowing for XXY or XYY or XX Male)), and not only test their chromosomes but whilst they are at it, look for potential genetic issues that may prove to be problematic later in life (Huntington's disease for example), whilst also helping out some of those countries where effective genetic testing is under-utilised. Keep those results completely private and help the athlete's plan if anything shows up, offering the counselling needed. There's scientists that are involved in gender science talking about people in their 30's (and some cases 60's) finding out they are living in the "wrong gender" genetically (like one woman who found out she wasn't an XX female in her 30's when she couldn't get pregnant), that must be one of the worst feelings possible, not only finding out you can't have the kids you wanted, but then needing to talk to your partner about it, potentially explain to your family and friends and get your own head around things. Yet for some it's a fornicating ideological battleground that they "should have known about".

*PPS - The way IAAF treat women with high testosterone was an absolute joke, and feels very much racist, effecting African athletes and events they would compete in, only effecting certain distances. This needs to be reviewed immediately.

There are some men, born with male genitals, with XX chromosomes. Should they be allowed to compete against women born with XX chromosomes?

It’s funny how the post from @Boxing Prospect, right before yours, explained in detail how it’s not that easy.

I agree with @Boxing Prospect & @Margaret Thatcher.
I'm usually pretty blunt, especially when it comes to controversial topics like this. However, this time it's obviously not that easy. For me personally, if there isn't clear evidence that she's a man, I'm going to see her as a woman. And currently, there is nothing to suggest otherwise.

I won't repeat what I'd previously wrote, as it;s clear you ignored that... but I will add this...

A woman with XY chromsomes has gotten pregnant and given birth before
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2190741/

Also this really breaks down how complex the testing is, and why the IBA's unwillingness to share what type of test was done is so frustrating. A generic "genetic test" is pretty useless.

"The karyotype of this phenotypically normal mother was 46,XY in blood, 80% 46,XY and 20% 45,X in cultured skin fibroblasts, and 93% 46,XY, 6% 45,X, and <1% 46,XX in the ovary"

The news reports were very strange

They couched events in very odd vernacular such as `the Italian quit after being hit in the face`.

Where else is she going to be hit?

I've never heard a news commentary on boxing that uses this bizarre language.

Not in the face !!!

No idea if the French legal system can compel people to face charges, or can charge them in their absence but their Cyber Bullying law is pretty notable, and I can imagine anyone who was over their making tweets about the situation maybe going through their tweets and deleting some given it can come with jail time and fines.

Didn't think sharing the specific French law at the center of this was a reflection of my own views on free speech but here we are.

The law was brought in after a teenager was bullied into suicide. So going with your own non-sequitur I can only assume you like teenagers committing suicide.

The law is the law even if it is sometimes an ass that sometimes doesn't seem know it's own mind.

I'm not sure what kind of precedent this is setting but the implications of what we've just witnessed could be tremendous for the future of women's sport.

As far as most people are concerned a very mannish woman won the gold medal in women's Olympic boxing.

Now it will be up to her/his future competitors to decide whether they would fight her/him in the professional ranks.

Obviously this gender issue, like the neverending war on drugs issue, is not going to go away anytime soon, not whilst there's money to be made.

"Eddie Hearn is open to offering Olympic gender-row boxer Imane Khelif a professional contract after the Algerian’s gold medal in Paris, based on “talent” and “commercial appeal”."
