Re: Classic fights I've watched recently
It was lashing down with rain yesterday, so I put some coffee on and watched a bit of prime Nigel Benn.
We're back in 1992 and Benn is trying to dethrone an Italian in Italy. The uber-confident Galvano.
Here's a lovely find on You Tube of the fight and the build-up, when ITV still delivered big-time boxing. Jim Rosenthal and Reg Gutteridge absolutely building-up a world championship fight as only they could. Eubank is there too
Benn is under the pump back then, up at SMW and Galvano is a WBC champion boxing at home.
The fight is about remorseless and intelligent pressure/aggression from Benn and the Galvano camp realising that the game is well and truly up and essentially bailing-out before Benn really destroys their guy.
I'd still contend this is one of Benn's finest victories when he was simply too much for anyone on the given night. Its a WBC title and taken on the road

Khan-Maidana. Such a great fight and Khans finest hour.
Shields-Marshall. I still had Marshall nicking it. Shields slaps a lot when tired and under pressure.
Haye- Mormeck. Still an impressive away day win.
Calzaghe- Reid Such a close fight and a shame we never got a rematch.
Froch- Taylor Such a hard hard man. An incredible 12th round.
