I actually thought Strickland edged the first fightMummery wrote: ↑23 Aug 2024, 17:10Who do you see beating Dricus? I think it’s Strickland next for himJamesPhilips wrote: ↑23 Aug 2024, 17:04Yeah Dricus looks so awkward but gets the results.Mummery wrote: ↑23 Aug 2024, 15:54
Dricus looked at times to be fucked and Adesanya was really laying into him with quality body shots, moving well, out landing him with more accurate strikes. But Dricus can really soak it up and his power is of the bone crunching variety even tho his punches look pretty awkward. He kept the pressure on and finished a hurt Isreal with a decent choke on the ground. It was a great battle.
Watching how he destroyed Robert Whittiker shocked me, his step in jabs nearly took Robs face off.

DDP once again doing it with the most punishing yet clumsy style ever seen for a champion who can be a future HOFer. I almost laughed when he stumbled towards hitting Adesanya with the head.
Kara-France blitzed his way to a title shot. Gamrot/Hooker was a banger and I am glad to see Dan coming back and dishing his whipping on such a valued opponent; back in the top 5!

I don’t agree with the old ‘you need to take the title clearly from the champ’ argument, but in a fight that close I thinkMummery wrote: ↑23 Aug 2024, 17:59It was very close for sure. I scored more for the aggression of Dricus in that one but defo could have gone either way. Strickland could do with a solid finishing weapon, a good body shot, some subs, he’s a bit of a grinder.
that it was a shame Sean lost.

Yeah I like Sean in many ways but he’s as good as he’ll ever be. And he’s not the most exciting fighter. DDP has a brighter future and has shown to be a solid character. He’s likeable and if he continues winning can be a star of note. Inside the octagon Sean lacks that intensity and style of being a true superstar. I like them both but for the sake of the game, DDP winning is better. Especially as UFC seem to have real trouble finding a genuine star at the moment. The organisation does really miss Conor, who’s a one off really, but it’s nice to get some fresh blood.Mummery wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 02:48I wanted Shawn to win the first fight but since then I like Dricus more. He seems a very thoughtful guy where as Strickland is more of an idiot type fighter. DuPlessis tries to finish fights so I prefer his style of fighting also.
So Dricus for me

lol I get it…. But the UFC cares about stars. Because it makes them publicity and moneyMummery wrote: ↑03 Sep 2024, 16:48I don’t give a fũck about stars mate. I see guys like Volk, Islam, Dustin, Justin, Max, Jones, Topuria, O’Malley, Pereira etc etc as exciting as connor ever was. In fact I despise McGregor. My fave fights are the ones he gets flattened in.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 02:55Yeah I like Sean in many ways but he’s as good as he’ll ever be. And he’s not the most exciting fighter. Yeah I mean all the fighters you mention are excellent, consistent and very good and I love watching them. But as with boxing, when you have a name with massive charisma and a good level of skills, and they get talked about and written about in major media outlets…. it not only brings cash to the game it brings new fans. UFC had gone a bit flat when Conor came along and he lifted MMA and UFC to a new level. Yes he’s an arrogant so and so not as good as many other lesser known fighters, but no one done as much for the sport as him.Mummery wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 18:54JamesPhilips wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 18:46lol I get it…. For that reason I’m not a hater. I doubt he’ll come back to the UFC (and Michael Chandler will continue to starve ) - prob do some Jake Paul style fights for big money…. I just don’t think he can put the required effort in again to compete in UFC. Those silk pyjamas are too comfortable
What do you think bro?

I see Dana is talking about Connor v Charles now! It’s a bizarre situation.
Totally agree about his star power mate, he was the PPV daddy and before he started denigrating people for having less dough than him, I thought he was ok. Since then, I’ve met a few folk who know him well and they say he is and always has been a nasty bullyboy, so not my kinda guy at all.
Yeah you can see that in him. Definitely a bully who enjoys humiliating people. Like giving a dig to that old man.
I think the UFC now is bigger and better than ever tbh. Poatan is huge, he’s got people talking.
Not sure that Poatan is as big as they say. He’s a great fighter but lacks superstar appeal and English. He wouldn’t be mobbed walking down the streets of London or NYC for example.
Aspinal could become a legend also, if he gets the fights he needs. Dying to see him cracked clean on the chin tho.
Aspinall is a potentially huge star. Dana is bizarrely under promoting him. Tom is very exciting, powerful, is likeable and though no oil painting has a recognisable face. Dana is either missing a trick or deliberately keeping him down as he seems in love with Jon Jones. Which is odd as Jones must be coming to the end. Jones should be stripped of the title truthfully. Keeping alive the Stipe fight, when Miocic hasn’t won a fight for 4 years is pathetic. As to Tom’s chin - it has been checked. Pavlovic banged him and Aspinall didn’t blink. .
I just love the whole game in general, the best fight the best One of the good things about the UFC promotional monopoly. The situation with Stipe and Jones is a bit annoying but like ol Dana says “should I just tell Stipe to fũck off because Jones got injured?” For me the answer is no. We all just need to be patient and I believe if Jones wins he will face Tom in a mega fight. Don’t agree, make Jones fight Aspinall or be stripped. Miocic hasn’t won for 4 years
I’m going to go watch Max and Topuria in Abu Dhabi as it’s only an hours drive away from me. Can’t wait for Bobby W to smash Khamzat to bits (I hope). Nice one mate! I really like Topuria
Merab and Suga will be a great fight also. The sport has taken almost everything that’s wrong with boxing and turned it around into what we should be getting. I like Sean to some extent thought his lifestyle and facial tattoos turn me off. As for comparisons to boxing - UFC has a huge advantage that’s impossible in boxing. UFC basically has a monopoly and is both an governing body (like WBC) AND a promotional organisation. This can never happen in boxing. Also MMA doesn’t have the Muhammad Ali act.
If Connor fights or doesn’t fight again I don’t care. He’s fucked with the Roids and Charlie anyway he won’t beat anyone in the top 5 again imo.
Exactly. I don’t believe he will fight again in the UFC

What are your picks for UFC 306?Mummery wrote: ↑05 Sep 2024, 12:41 I don’t think Pav landed proper clean, I thought he was a bit buzzed by even that tbh, like not wobbled but he felt it.
Time will tell.
Jones has been huge for UFC. Although he’s a nutcase of the highest order, he’s definitely top 2/3 of the best we’ve seen so far in the game. The plan is clearly for Jones to beat Stipe (currently classed as the best heavy ever in UFC) and then, in his and Dana’s eyes, cement his legacy with a win over Aspinal. I do agree with your take on it all but Dana is rewarding both Stipe and Jones for their commitment to the game, while also elevating Jones above all others if it goes to plan.
Shite for Tom, but, if he beats Jones he’s classed as the best heavy ever, only if Jones beats Stipe. Pain in arse for Tom and the fans, of course it is. Can see what they are upto tho.
Patience is key for Aspinal.

As for what to expect at Noche UFC, the promotion shared the following notes of Sphere’s next-gen tech utilized to make it “the greatest sporting event of all time”.
160,000 sq. ft. and 16K x 16K resolution interior display plane
In comparison, an IMAX movie screen is less than 4,000 sq. ft.
The world’s highest resolution LED display
The world’s most advanced concert-grade audio system
Haptic seats, where fans will feel the action like never before, as their seats provide force feedback based on the action in the Octagon
First time UFC has ever used haptic seats during an event
The Exosphere will be utilized throughout the night with key art and highlights to bring fans closer to the event
In-house stats and information feeds will showcase real-time stats and fighter information integrated onto the interior display plane of Sphere
This will be the first time that the UFC utilizes TAIT’s Automated Camera System during an event
Plus, fans in attendance can listen to the live commentator audio in English and Spanish via LiveVoice app.

Yeah I was gonna put on Valentina but was worried about her age. Sean hurt Merab I thought in last round but too late. Otherwise disappointing performanceMummery wrote: ↑17 Sep 2024, 11:46Valentina back to her best form. Amazing win.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑07 Sep 2024, 17:11Thanks. Merab made Sean look ordinary af. I really disliked how reluctant Sean became as the fight went on. Even when it seemed he had merab hurt he never went for it. Was disappointed with his will to win.
Merab is a true champ and puts it all on the line to win. Dominating performance. A real mixed martial artist.
Herb Dean was very weird with Merab, telling him off twice. It’s always about him the twat, wanting attention
