I agree with your points, spot on re the wider stuff, it's just the "no one likes you" bit that makes me think it's all a bit year 11jameswilson wrote: ↑24 Apr 2024, 15:16When he talks about x number of fights that could have gone to purse bid and they pull them out days or hours before he is obviously talking clear facts. But yeah the nobody likes Ben Shalom thing is a bit petty and how do you quantify that comment.
In saying that Nisse Sauerland did an interbiew and you could see he was pissed at the pullouts and there are sideways comments from the other UK promoters.
My feeling on it is Shalom is very new on the block (2 years isn't long in the promoting game) so I can see that he does need to protect his fighters from fighting on rival promoters shows. But if this continues on and on then it's not going to be sustainable, when his guys get into World title contention they are going to come up against Champions who will be with promoters and situations where they aint winning the purse bid. So fighters will see other fighters getting pulled from World title fights and thinking 'you know what, I'll go with Matchroom/Queensbury/Sauerland.'

I sympathise with Ben, it is coming across as bullying to me from Frank W and Eddie.

Yeah, he was made to look a bit green there.
His mistake was engaging with him.
His only opportunity to win there was to say he does his negotiating off camera.
Re: Ben Shalom
He is out of his depth, and not learning quickly either, Fast Car is right to show him what lane he should be driving in!
When is his contract up?
When is his contract up?
Re: Ben Shalom
As odious as Eddie Hearn is there, he's the man you'd want negotiating for you. Worth pointing out that Chisora is acting the tool too. In fact pretty embarrassing all around but a good insight and theyre entrusted with the future of the sport.

I disagree that it’s bullying. It’s business and it’s the way the sport works now.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024, 18:05 I sympathise with Ben, it is coming across as bullying to me from Frank W and Eddie.
Oscar slams Canelo every Thursday which his clap back Thursday stuff. I wouldn’t call that bullying either. It’s just the way the sport is for everyone involved.

Re: Ben Shalom
Ben was the one pushing for the 5v5 there, Eddie names one fight and Ben’s bum goes. Of course he can’t sign to fight there and then but he once again made it seem that he doesn’t think his man will be ready for the fight.Frostieballs wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024, 18:46Yeah, he was made to look a bit green there.

Yeah - I get that. It’s probably more because he’s out of his depth though rather than it being bullying.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 05:45aye I get what you mean Maverick, just felt a bit sorry for him.maverick23 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 02:00I disagree that it’s bullying. A promoter is there to promote the boxers, fights and themselves. Eddie often does too much promoting himself but Shalom has, several times made his fighters look bad with the late purse bid pull out stuff. Frazer Clarke has openly said how pissed off he was and how much grief he got. Could have been handled far better.

really fair points Maverick
Re: Ben Shalom
See Hearn also roasted IFL earlier for allegedly pulling interviews under pressure from Shalom. Reminds me of the rumoured Boxing News situation earlier in the year.

Re: Ben Shalom
Is Eddie on testosterone replacement therapy or something? We have rumours of him running off with Skye Nicholson and also his recent gyming. Now it looks like his bollocks dropped and hes offering Shalom out for a fight. Embarrassing conduct for a near 50 year old bloke.
Re: Ben Shalom
Well, now the dog has seen the rabbit....what were the BN rumours?
On the BN front, note they've cut the 60 second interview at the back, which was fun to read but they have had some obscure boxers in there recently.
Re: Ben Shalom
Which 2 fighters are with Shalom for the Wembley show? Buatsi and who else? Is Kelly still with Wasserman?
Re: Ben Shalom
Then Clarke, Whittaker and Eubank in Saudi?

Re: Ben Shalom
I would not have thought so, he has no muscle mass despite training regularly. Depends how much 'TRT' people use. He might be on proper prescribed TRT where he could be using 100mg a week, but I'd still expect him to have a better physique than that.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 18:51 Is Eddie on testosterone replacement therapy or something? I noticed that. Still keep the 2 pages of rankings although they did respond to a question about it last week. I've just cancelled BN, new editor using his article to tell us his dad used to sneak into fights, Hamzah Sheeraz saying he's going to win and Josh W telling us he's not knackered. I like Buncey and Miles Temperton, and the old timers fella Simon, rest is predictable now.

Denny is with him.
Smith isn’t. He’s been very critical of Shalom since the Eubank rematch.
Re: Ben Shalom
Sorry mate, didn't mean to be deliberately cryptic - was just posting before I hit the sack and assumed most on here would know what I was referring to.
Basically there was a strong allegation earlier this year that Shalom got the BN team to pull an interview they'd done with him. That, coupled with BN's complete radio slience when it came to reporting on the allegations in the Sunday Times about some of his/Boxxer's business dealings, made some of us suspect that he was playing hardball behind the scenes.
