Post by apollo creed »

Father time is unmerciful and no matter how we slice it or dice it Artur is old and he had a bad leg injury. If he will beat a prime-boxing master like Bivol then it would be a very big performance considering his age but on the other hand tbh I'd not consider it a big performance for Bivol if he beats this old version of Artur. I think Artur would have a hard time to catch Bivol.

Beterbiev is older and had the injury, but I wouldn't call him "old" specifically as of today. He's 39 not 49, and it's not like we've been watching him steadily decline or something he's a world title holder coming off a K.O. win in his last fight. Old man Beterbiev, wonder if he'll be able to make it to the ring, huh?
Premise of thread is flawed and as such the whole thread idea is pointless, like most of this forum so I suppose that's just par for the course.

39 is old for a fighter but yeah his style was ageing pretty well because of his strength and insane punching power. I guess Bivol would try to fight at a high pace trying to outpoint Artur. Anyway if Artur will stop Bivol then its a great win.

Going to say it, but Pacquiao was around 38 when he fought Floyd and people were saying he was way passed it, but there has been next to no “criticism “ of this one. 39 is pretty old.

Bad decision in my book. Bivol looked like the clear winner to me:

Obnoxiously bad scoring.

Close win for Artur. Bivol landed more cleaner punches but Artur was imposing his strength and power more. A rematch would be needed for sure. I'm very impressed by Artur's strength and conditioning (at 40 y/o) and how he is cutting off the ring to be in a very good position for the attack. Very, very strong fighter. Initially I had Bivol to outbox Artur but yeah it is what it is.

Lets see if Canelo will want to fight Artur in 2025?

Really technical fight of the highest quality, but never really hit the heights which can be the case when the best fight the best.
I couldn't understand the ' viewers verdict' as the fight progressed? If I remember the 'viewers ' had Bivol winning all 4 of the first four rounds. I had Beterbiev up 3-1 at the same time .
I also had him winning the last three.
In several rounds I saw Bivol not throwing any punches for upwards of 50 seconds , moving from side to side and spinning round the outside. He'd throw a flurry of punches with perhaps a couple landing.
Not enough to win rounds in my book
115-113 Beterbiev foe me

Never pay attention to viewers verdict. It’s just some casual fans on sky posting their scorecards.

1-2 there was not much in them, but if you had to give them someone, Bivol was the right choice.

From 3 onwards. Bert started getting into it.

By round 5-6, I stopped scoring. It became difficult.

I doubt Beterbiev would want to give a rematch to Bivol in 2025. I think Canelo and Benavidez are the first options on Arthur's wishlist.

I wouldn't be surprised if he retires.
