KO > outpoint ??
Pure boxer.. yh sure. Jake Paul is probably ahead
That didn't stop him from blasting out David Haye when it was clear Haye was literally hobbling on one leg. I used to like Bellew but he's a real annoyance sometimes.
Former UFC fighter he was. Pettis.Controversial wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 07:23 I didn’t realise RJJ had another pro fight in 2023 and lost to someone making their debut.
I think fans care more about fighters records than they do. But yeah a totally pointless fight, I bet he wouldn’t turn down fighting JP either.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 08:26Former UFC fighter he was. Don't know why RJJ did that. now he's in double figure losses.
An interesting thing that that shows is that a recently retired taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu based MMA guy who was already well past his best moving up over 40 lbs will beat a 55 year old hall of fame boxer in his relatively natural weight class.Controversial wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 07:23 I didn’t realise RJJ had another pro fight in 2023 and lost to someone making their debut.
Yep, I hadn’t heard of Pettis before but as you say he was a lower weight MMA fighter on the decline and still beat arguably one of the greatest boxers of modern times.joshj909 wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 09:00An interesting thing that that shows is that a recently retired taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu based MMA guy who was already well past his best moving up over 40 lbs will beat a 55 year old hall of fame boxer in his relatively natural weight class.Controversial wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 07:23 I didn’t realise RJJ had another pro fight in 2023 and lost to someone making their debut.
Age is a more important factor that skill. There will be a crossover point though which will depend on the skill and age. Mike Tyson could be, and likely is, Jake Paul's worst win since his first three fights.
Tyson was pretty much done as a top tier HW in 1997 after losing to Holyfield.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 09:57 Tbf Roy was basically shot from Tarver onwards. I still remember his failed attempts at the cruiserweight title getting annihilated by Enzo and Denis Lebedev.
Pretty much accurate.Controversial wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 10:15Tyson was pretty much done as a top tier HW in 1997 after losing to Holyfield.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 09:57 Tbf Roy was basically shot from Tarver onwards. It's called "unable to pull the trigger". This world is getting dumber by the minute. Anyone who saw that fight and thought Tyson was holding back is in need for very very strong glasses.Controversial wrote: ↑20 Nov 2024, 16:25 Clip doing the rounds showing Tyson pulling his punches, to be fair it does look like he did in this clip

I don’t think he was holding back, he just looked like an old man to me but I can see how this clip can make it look like he was.hhaehre wrote: ↑20 Nov 2024, 19:00It's called "unable to pull the trigger". I read somewhere that Jake Paul's fight against Mike Perry did 50,000 pay per view buys.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑20 Nov 2024, 21:16 it was huge. loads of rando non boxing people i know and on non boxing forums were talking about. far more than usyk-fury, fury-wilder, garcia-davis, etc
funnily enough even most of them seemed to realize ahead of time it was a farce fight, but it still was huge anyway
obviously tyson played a huge part, non of paul's other fights got anywhere near the attention, i think one of his recent ones did like 600k viewers
Didn’t they make a lot of the money from all the new Netflix accounts purchased to watch this fight? I wouldn’t be surprised it Netflix add a PPV element to their streams or have a more expensive premium account that includes sports.stujones wrote: ↑21 Nov 2024, 06:52 Jake Paul’s fan base largely hasn’t got the parental access to purchase ppvs. He’s made his fortune using a free streaming platform.
Many homes have Netflix anyway, so I’m sure he’ll do okay on a “free” stream set up.
Are the 12/13 year olds going to know and be allowed to buy ppvs… probably not.
Oh yes, agree can see that happening in the future. Or they might just up their general subscription cost.Controversial wrote: ↑21 Nov 2024, 07:05Didn’t they make a lot of the money from all the new Netflix accounts purchased to watch this fight?
