Re: Michael Nunn versus Roy Jones Jr.
at 160 I would take Nunn. Jones had not hit his prime yet.
168 or175 I would take Jones by decision

roy wins at any weight
Re: Michael Nunn versus Roy Jones Jr.
I'll take either one by decision at 160lbs, but Jones would take the decision at 168lbs and 175lbs in the battle between two hall of famers.
Re: Michael Nunn versus Roy Jones Jr.
I read an old interview with Jones in which he stated he weighed 185 pounds exactly 3 weeks before the first bout with Hopkins. It was a very tough weight for him to make. And, they weighed in on the same day of the fight-7:00 A.M. and the bout started a little over 15 hours later.
Jones walked around at 190 during his light heavyweight reign.

I don't that it would have been that easy. Michael Nunn was a fantastic fighter that could have been one of the true all-time pound per pound greats if taken his career very seriously.
He was tall, fast, had great ring generalship, power punch, and was a southpaw. He was outboxing the great James "Lights Out" Toney for 10 rounds until Toney out of nowhere and Nunn's carelessness, got dropped by a perfect left hook.

When we see these dream matchups i try and think what one fighter does better than the other. Jones has the speed and power advantage. Hes much bigger than nunn on fight night. Id rate jones chin better - i dont remember jones being hurt until much later in his careerelmersalsa wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 08:58I don't that it would have been that easy. Technically nunn is better but everyone was technically better than jones and it didnt matter. He made james toney look foolish

At the risk of agree with elmer, I think it would have been a close fight as well. Don't think Jones would hurt him; he hit a lot of guys at 175 at will who were terrible and they lasted for a while. This fight could have happened.
Re: Michael Nunn versus Roy Jones Jr.
Roy wasn't quite at his best at 160 so Nunn could've given him all he could handle. Nunn had more refined, technical skill than Roy, but lacked the kinda explosive power and hand speed that Roy had.
I'd favor Roy to win just because I can see him being more likely to hurt Nunn than vice versa, but it would be a pretty tough challenge for 'em both.
