I said it before the fight. There is zero point in Fury carrying all the extra weight if he can't use it. Usyk was physically shoving him off. The fat is madness, but if it makes Usyk's job easier, then so be it.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:52it was intriguing in its own way. usyk really really good , fury wasnt going to win boxing tentative, he had to go for it. i know its easier said than done, but what fury had was natural size over usyk and his plan for this one never really put it into effectkeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:50This. Enjoy the fight, Mags?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:49 who cares about undisputed unficiation when usyk just won all the belts and would merely be picking up one he threw in the garbage for inferior fighters to scrounge for?

Yeah exactly - it's remarkable he's still good enough to win with a fitness-bound style at 37, but he's already fading and can't hold back the tide of heavyweight size much longer.gregregegg wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:47But the right decision will be for usyk to retire, he is old fighting a style that probably dosent age well shame to see him get beat just cause he goes one fight too many.

Fury outlanded Usyk in one round. They were even in one round.
Fury outlanded Usyk in three rounds for power punches and we're even on one round.

Good on them.
Bunce waffling about a trilogy now. Don't want it, mate. It's AJ-Fury next.

The first one was 7-5-ish after rewatching and there was a KD.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:56What were your scorecards for the two fights?
The second one has just been scored 5-5-2.

Yup, as i expected. Fury outlanded Usyk only once in 12 rounds. He was gun shy, lacked a game plan, never sustained any aggression.
Anything more than 3 rounds to Fury is generous and certainly not based on landing shots.

Had Usyk winning 115-113 but Fury might've won that with a bit more aggression, thought he started aggressive, imposing himself on Usyk, trying to walk him down, Usyk targeted the body with jabs and straight lefts but he struggled to land headshots clean first half, as always though Usyk gets there bit by bit, darting in and out , pinging back the head of Fury, i had it all square after 10 but Usyk finished stronger and landed the eye catching shots, not a classic, more of technical battle

No, I think they'd have to fight at cruiser for the history books on Usyk's side. How many boxers have gone up and down a division as champ, two-time in the latter?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:51opetaia would at least be a way of showing that he still reigns over his original kingdom, even if they kinda fudge it by fighting at hw

A gave Usyk one more round. Good fight though, I enjoyed it.handsofstone wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 20:05 Had Usyk winning 115-113 but Fury might've won that with a bit more aggression, thought he started aggressive, imposing himself on Usyk, trying to walk him down, Usyk targeted the body with jabs and straight lefts but he struggled to land headshots clean first half, as always though Usyk gets there bit by bit, darting in and out , pinging back the head of Fury, i had it all square after 10 but Usyk finished stronger and landed the eye catching shots, not a classic, more of technical battle

Exactly what I was saying to my brother-in-law over the last few rounds where Fury had slowed so much. Wondering whether the extra weight was never really the plan but he just couldn't shift it?coneye wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:53 Scores were ok usyk just hit fury with more shots more often its not rocket science fury landed 2 clean shots usky landed 5 simple really .. Although tyson made it interesting he slowed down which makes me wonder if the plan was to move away not forward and box not maul and wrestle . WHY come in so heavy and risk doing excatly what he done slow down . For me if fury was to have a chance to beat Usyk and it would be possible he needs to go back to Peter.. But Fury will stop Aj he may has well take that fight and then retire on a good win that pays a fortune DD well he may get his wish .and a big payday but next time Usyk flogs him . Having success with one punch last time doesnt mean hes all off a sudden good enough

Same as Keith, I felt Fury did better in their first fight. Fury missed with his right uppercut several times tonight, as Usyk was wise to jink to his own right away from them.
Apart from a couple of close rounds I found this rematch easier to score. Fury was visibly ragged in the last two.

Re: Round-by-Round: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury II | PPV - 21 December 2024
The thing that impresses me about Usyk isn't only that he was fighting at light HW in his early 20s, but that he's not a big puncher, and while quick isn't even really a very fast fighter. In terms of natural talent he doesn't really have an "A grade attribute" but his conditioning/discipline, boxing IQ and mental toughness are second to none.
None of the heavyweights left on the scene provide an interesting fight for him IMO and Usyk at nearly 38 doesn't have more to prove. Really the only fighter I think would be interesting is Opetai.

Re: Round-by-Round: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury II | PPV - 21 December 2024
I think Fury felt that if he pushed the fight more, that Usyk would put him on his ass.
Shame because I thought he had decoded Usyk in the first when he consistently went hard to the body in the mid rounds.
The thing that changed that fight was the nosebreak that led to the KD and not the KD itself.
Anyways back to this fight, think Fury played for points, kept it close without over committing and expected the decision. Didn't happen.

I thought Fury was worse this time. Usyk out punched him, out muscled him and out boxed him. Sometimes I'm surprised by the punch stats, but not this time.stevec@france wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 20:08fury was better by a fair margin - usyk by enough to win it .
