Christian Mbilli vs Kevin Lele Sadjo | IBF ordered - 2025

Post by aumonier »

Since Pacheco declined a fight against Mbilli for the IBF eliminator, the IBF have ordered an eliminator between two unbeaten french fighters, Christian Mbilli and Kevin Lele Sadjo. The winner would be fighting the IBF champion William Scull (supper middleweight).

It would be a great fight, both are very good, but I don't think it is likely happening. Mbilli is trying hard to get a world title fight against Canelo. He was supposed to do so in a WBC eliminator against Munguia, but now that Munguia has lost to Surace it is probably no longer the case. Mbilli will probably wait to see if there is a new WBC eliminator against someone else instead of Munguia, then expect a win and a fight against Canelo. France is slightly better after Surace win, but I don't think there is a chance such a fight could be organized in France. And the point of having two french boxers fighting if the fight is in Canada (where Mbilli's promoter is), in Dubai (where Mbilli will be relocating soon) or in Riyadh (where many great fights happen nowadays) would suppress a large part of the interest.

Y12 wins purse bid for Christian Mbilli vs Kevin Lele Sadjo, targets May in Paris

French outfit Y12 Boxing claimed the rights to stage a super middleweight eliminator between Christian Mbilli and Kevin Lele Sadjo

Y12 Boxing announced today that they’d successfully outbid Eye of the Tiger Management $878,000 to $776,000 for the right to stage the ordered IBF eliminator between Christian Mbilli and Kevin Lele Sadjo. Per their Instagram, they’re targeting a May date in Paris; based on their previous events, I’d expect DAZN to carry it.

Mbilli (28-0, 23 KO) can, of course, still back out. Virtually all of his fights this decade have been on EotTM shows, so it wouldn’t be too shocking to see him and Camille Estephan take their ball and go home.

Maybe this is just my overpowering desire to see the cartoonish violence this matchup promises talking, but I see this one happening. Putting aside the fact that Mbilli is looking at nearly half a million dollars, this is the most expedient way for him to get a title shot unless Canelo does end up fighting William Scull in May. He’s highly ranked with the other sanctioning bodies, true, but he already turned down a fight with WBO no. 1 Diego Pacheco due to timing issues earlier this year.

It’s not like the WBA has any interest in keeping interim champ Caleb Plant active, either.

With Munguia off the table and EotTM stablemate Osleys Iglesias occupied, Sadjo (24-0, 21 KO) is the best option at the moment. Fingers crossed.

Christian Mbilli vs Kevin Sadjo eliminator off due to financial issues, Mbilli seeks WBC interim title

Christian Mbilli won’t be fighting Kevin Sadjo, withdrawing from the fight due to financial concerns.

Christian Mbilli vs Kevin Sadjo will not be happening, as Mbilli’s team at Eye of the Tiger Management have announced that Mbilli is withdrawing from the proposed fight due to financial concerns.

EotTTM released a statement about the scrapped IBF super middleweight eliminator, for which French promoter Y12 Boxing recently won a purse bid at $878,000, with 60 percent due to go to Mbilli.

“In the end, the French promoter refused to negotiate anything beyond the IBF’s minimum requirements,” Eye of the Tiger state, and say they are now pursuing their original plan, which is to get Mbilli (28-0, 23 KO) into a WBC interim title fight.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to pursue an avenue that better aligns with our short- and medium-term objectives,” said promoter and Eye of the Tiger president, Camille Estephan. “We are currently in discussions with the WBC for an interim world title bout in the super middleweight division against an opponent who will be announced shortly.”

Eye of the Tiger had requested to have Mbilli’s full purse deposited into escrow five days before the event, but Y12 were “unable to meet this requirement,” and had also been trying to schedule the show for May 8, which would have been past the agreed deadline of April 30.

Both Mbilli and Sadjo (24-0, 21 KO) will now be looking elsewhere, and you can expect Sadjo to find a new opponent for a newly-ordered IBF eliminator.
