I feel like if Linares had survived 1.5 rounds against DeMarco in Oct 2011 and would've gone on to beat him on points (Linares was far ahead thru 10 rounds) - then, Golden Boy Promotions would've given us Linares-Broner in 2012 (for what would've been Linares' WBC Lightweight title).

Who would've won between good versions of Broner and Linares at 135lbs?
