He’ll just move up one division.
Basically win a world title. Barely make a defence and move up.
Just like Shakur Stevenson.
Top Rank special.

KEYSHAWN DAVIS MISSES WEIGHT BY 4.3 POUNDS, STRIPPED OF WBO LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE
– Keyshawn Davis lost his WBO lightweight title on the scale Friday afternoon.
Davis stepped on the Virginia Boxing, Martial Arts and Professional Wrestling Commission’s scale at 139.3 pounds, a stunning 4.3 pounds over the 135-pound limit for the lightweight division. His opponent Saturday night, Edwin De Los Santos, officially weighed 134.7 pounds.
Davis told Top Rank’s Crystina Poncher that he wouldn’t try to come back to the scale because it was too much weight to lose in the allotted one hour.
“I outgrew the weight,” Davis said. “I been making this weight for over four years now. I just outgrew the weight. I tried. I was up late last night. I woke up early this morning, trying to make the weight. I just outgrew the weight, man. I was feeling it the last time I was fighting [Denys] Berinchyk. I thank God that I made it. Y’all don’t know how I was feel making it. But hey, it is what it is.”
Representatives for Davis and De Los Santos were working at the time this story was posted on a substantial financial penalty for Davis to pay from his purse to De Los Santos for coming in way overweight. De Los Santos can still win the WBO lightweight title because he made weight.
Coming in so heavy put a damper on Davis’ second main event in the past seven months at Scope Arena in his hometown of Norfolk.
Davis, 26, was supposed to make his first defense of the WBO lightweight title he won when he knocked out Ukraine’s Berinchyk (19-1, 9 KOs) in the fourth round February 14 at Madison Square Garden’s Theater in New York.
De Los Santos, 24, will end an 18-month layoff. A hand injury and then a blood clot in his left leg partially kept him out of the ring since he lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Shakur Stevenson (23-0, 11 KOs) in their fight for the then-unclaimed WBC lightweight title in November 2023 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Did he even try? He nearly missed weight for the next division up, right after winning his first world title 4 months ago. What a joke.
You are 26 and made the weight just 4 months ago, you donkey.

I mean Santos could have still fought for the belt but probably thought he’d lose.
Was this a voluntary?
Maybe WBO will mandate him to fight someone for the vacant title

Yep, agree.
Talked a mile of shit in the lead up, and failed to make the weight by a long way.

That wouldn't be fair on the 13 fighters ranked higher than him who have been fighting since Santos got his last win nearly 2 years ago.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025, 20:02 I mean Santos could have still fought for the belt but probably thought he’d lose.

I know it's tough for DLS but his promoter made the decision.

Good on DLS. Missing weight doesn’t get punished nearly enough.
Let’s hope Davies and Top Rank are at least a little embarrassed now. They should be.

14th with the WBO. Unranked with the others.
Hopefully his promoter gets him out sharpish & he fights at least two more times this year. It feels like the top fighters at 135 are about to move up. There's going to be a reshaping of the division in the next year or two.

NAHIR ALBRIGHT: KEYSHAWN, KEON DAVIS JUMPED ME IN LOCKER ROOM AFTER WIN OVER KELVIN
It's officially an unmitigated disaster of a weekend for the Davis brothers.
After Keyshawn Davis' homecoming fight Saturday in Norfolk, Virginia, was cancelled against Edwin De Los Santos, and he was stripped of his WBO lightweight title for being 4.3 pounds overweight, he engaged in an unsanctioned fight with a former rival.
Shortly after Nahir Albright convincingly beat older brother Kelvin Davis by majority decision, he said he was attacked in the locker room by his brothers.
"Keyshawn and his little brother [Keon] jumped me," Albright told ESPN's Mark Kriegel during the broadcast. "They started walking up to me all tough and put his heads against mine, and grabbed me. I was about to swing but my team and everyone grabbed Keyshawn and everything.”
Albright said he sustained a big bump on the right side of his forehead from the scuffle.
After Albright shared details around the incident, footage showed another melee breaking out between both camps in the tunnels of Scope Arena, with a fuming Keyshawn in the middle of it as his family, and his child in a stroller, were nearby. Members of the Norfolk Police Department broke up the scuffle.
Keyshawn and Keon declined to comment to Kriegel to explain their side of the story before the melee ensued.
Albright and Keyshawn have a history. Keyshawn scored a 10-round majority decision win against him in October 2023, but the result was changed to a no-decision after it was revealed that he'd tested positive for marijuana.
Albright said Saturday after the incident that he wanted a rematch against Keyshawn to settle their score in the ring.
Earlier in the night, Keon scored a second-round stoppage win against Michael Velez.

EDWIN DE LOS SANTOS, PROMOTER SAMPSON LEWKOWICZ SPLIT FOLLOWING KEYSHAWN DAVIS FALLOUT
Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz announced Friday that he's amicably parted ways with Edwin De Los Santos and given the lightweight contender his unconditional release following the fallout from the Keyshawn Davis fight last week.
Davis was supposed to defend his WBO lightweight title against De Los Santos on June 7 but came in 4.3 pounds overweight. Davis was stripped of his title on scale, and after hours of negotiations to salvage the fight, the proper terms could not be reached and the Top Rank on ESPN main event fight in Norfolk, Virginia, was cancelled.
Lewkowicz said one of the main reasons for the split was because De Los Santos still wanted to fight, but he didn't allow him because he feared for his health.
"I believe I did him right," Lewkowicz told The Ring. "Sometimes a warrior doesn't understand that his life could be on the line. Davis was most likely going to be around 165 pounds on the night. De Los Santos would be, at most, 147 pounds. That would be suicide."
Lewkowicz said he negotiated with Top Rank for De Los Santos to get 50% of his purse. Sources originally informed The Ring's Keith Idec last Friday once the fight was cancelled that De Los Santos was set to receive his entire purse.
“There was a lot of money involved, but I couldn't take a chance for him to get hurt,” said Lewkowicz. “Davis was so big. It looked like Davis had trained for 140 pounds. He was a cheater. Sometimes the fighter doesn't understand that, either. Time will say I was right.”
Lewkowicz, 74, said he made one of the toughest decisions of his career by leaning on his decades of experience. He referenced the trauma he experienced of being involved in the 2005 fight that ultimately led to Leavander Johnson’s death, and Magomed Abdusalamov’s 2013 fight that left him with severe brain injuries.
Lewkowicz said he even passed on promoting Sergio Martinez’s recent comeback — a fighter he was responsible for discovering and turning into a star — because he feared for the 45-plus-year-old Maravilla’s safety at the time.
“I told Sergio that I couldn't help him because it was wrong and his health was on the line,” said Lewkowicz. “I say all the time that all of my fighters are like my child, and I will keep them safe if I can. I didn't want anything like that to happen to De Los Santos. We ended our relationship on very good terms. We've even talked twice today already and had friendly conversations. I consider him a friend — business is separate. I wish him good luck and will help him with whatever he needs.”
