Hitchins v Kambossis Jr
Hitchins dished out a tremendous one sided shellaking of Kambossis Jr last night.
He`s some fighter that boy. Gonna take some beating

Him and Teofimo was a bit weird after the fight, hugging each other and taking photos with each other. Not quite as weird as the Luke Campbell v Tommy Coyle carry on in the ring before they fought each other but was running it close.

Re: Hitchins v Kambossis Jr
Kambo is as brave as they come but he shouldn’t have been anywhere near a title shot at 140. Too small, too old, too diminished.
The post fight interview was fun, he was asked about the possibility of fighting Haney and replies straight to the camera shouting “DEVIN HANEY F*** YOU NI***” and proceeds to call Bill Haney a pussy. Refreshingly, the DAZN tv guys just carried on unperturbed unlike their British tv equivalents who issue grovelling apologies when they hear corners or boxers use even the mildest swear words

Classy stuff From Hitchins, levels above Kambosos in basically every department - great jab/one-two and some crushing body work too.
George is tough but rarely moves his head and was a sitting duck at mid-range throughout basically, took a lot of punishment. Good fighter to watch Hitchins, interested to see who is up next for him.

Hitchins shouting the odds that he's a free agent afterwards, massive disrespect to Eddie who was fuming in his interview with ifl

In fairness, Hitchins mentioned a few times in the post fight interview that Eddie and Matchroom had done a great job for him.handsofstone wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025, 10:37 Hitchins shouting the odds that he's a free agent afterwards, massive disrespect to Eddie who was fuming in his interview with ifl

I don’t think Dalton’s team will be angling for a world title shot against Hitchins

I do think that sometimes fighters should think the long game rather than playing games.handsofstone wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025, 10:37 Hitchins shouting the odds that he's a free agent afterwards, massive disrespect to Eddie who was fuming in his interview with ifl
He was probably told by his manager to say he was a free agent (not sure who that is) to put the pressure on Matchroom to pay more. Of course there are options but PBC don’t have many dates, TR don’t have a network and I’d be surprised it doesn’t make sense for Golden Boy/Matchroom to fight over fighters on the same network. Perhaps he could get some Rings shows.
It also means though that in terms of priority he’d go down on Matchroom. Cordina played the same game in the run up to the Cacace fight and it ended up a mess and him being out of the ring for a year.
I know loyalty goes both ways but sometimes I think it’s best for fighters to show loyalty to promoters to get it back and more.
Like Dubois with Warren, Bellew/Froch/AJ with Eddie. All of them had losses yet continued to great pushes.
If Richardson say does take a fight on a Ring show then I’m sure he’ll be well paid for it but it could be a struggle for opportunities after if he loses.
Re: Hitchins v Kambossis Jr
That was as close to a masterclass as I can remember, Hitchens was absolutely perfect. What really got me interested in this fight was the pic in BN of Hitchens in his boots. Something about them just said hard work and hard graft.
It was clear DAZN want the Lopez fight as they skipped over the Haney tirade! But on this showing Hitchens would whip both of them.

watched it today, epic performance. Eddie Hearn was angry about him being out of contract though, talking about how much money he has lost on him and was disgruntled with advice from Hitchins' manager.
Re: Hitchins v Kambossis Jr
Fair play to Kambosos.
He had that tremendous upset win over Lopez Jr & turned that into $20-25 million worth of purses.
He only won ONE* of his last six bout post Lopez. And that was against a last minute stand in (not his fault).
So take a bow George, and your father. You turned one brilliant night into generational wealth for your family.
That's professional boxing.
* - He lost at least 8 rounds to Maxi Hughes, no matter what the judges said. I wonder what would have happened if Hughes had got the nod. Would HE have fought Loma for the vacant belt?

I don’t think it’s a particularly good look calling out someone who’s just taken a hammering.
It wouldn’t be a bad step up but at least wait a few weeks before calling him out.

That's embarrassing and shows a lack of confidence in his own ability. Why not fight Dalton Smith.

He also fought Ohara Davies last year, who had just been knocked out by Barroso in the fight before.

Hitchins should smarten up fast IMO. We have a policy in our small business that if a potential new client gets in touch and immediately (or almost) starts slagging off or dismissing the business they are looking to move away from to us, we tread very carefully and more often than not politely decline their custom. We are in a small niche and boxing is a small niche, I suspect the promoters will have a similar approach to us.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025, 16:45 watched it today, epic performance. Re: Hitchins v Kambossis Jr
Yeah. That approach can work fine when a fighter is in demand but the pool of promoters with strong tv deals is small so I don’t really understand the desire to intentionally piss one of them off.Jimmy2025 wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025, 03:38Hitchins should smarten up fast IMO. His manager is Keith Connolly. Also manages Teo who has seemingly alienated Top Rank and annoyed Turki lately. Also manages Berlanga who fired shots at Eddie after their last fight. Berlanga has done well to get on a Ring show but I thought Eddie did pretty well by him.
