When you have Lauren Price and Tasha Jonas fights being main events and pushed out as blockbusters then you can see why Sky has packed boxing in. Shalom was the modern day Audley. Aud ruined boxing on BBC, Shalom ruined it on Sky.

They're not going anywhere. I'll take a bet with you that SKY are showing boxing before the end of the year.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 06:27 When you have Lauren Price and Tasha Jonas fights being main events and pushed out as blockbusters then you can see why Sky has packed boxing in. Re: The future of boxing on Sky Sports
I would expect a dedicated sports channel to show some amount of boxing, but it does look like the days of exclusivity for promoters on a platform such as SKY is over for now.

the legacy of ben shalom, spending his budget on women's main events no one was pushing forTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 06:27 When you have Lauren Price and Tasha Jonas fights being main events and pushed out as blockbusters then you can see why Sky has packed boxing in. I'm no fan of Ben but he was just giving Sky what they wanted. They followed the BBC's lead in trying to feminise televised sport as much as they could. Tbf they've some way to go to match the BBC's lunacy - i switched on test match special recently to find two women talking to each othermargaret thatcher wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 15:33the legacy of ben shalom, spending his budget on women's main events no one was pushing forTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 06:27 When you have Lauren Price and Tasha Jonas fights being main events and pushed out as blockbusters then you can see why Sky has packed boxing in. Imagine it, two females daring to talk about cricket. How could they possibly be able to comment on thirteen blokes on a field with a bat and ball. How dare they. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. They'll have men commentating on the women's sports next. What has the world come to?CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 23:25 i switched on test match special recently to find two women talking to each other

You were being sarcastic????? No way, that went right over my head...keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 07:54I was being sarcastic. Men do commentate on women's sporting events. I can't understand why anyone would have any issues on humans commentating on humans doing sport.

Women on TMS are as incongruous as say Michael Portillo appearing in a drill video. As a diligent professional Michael may well have done his research on lyrics and what posture to adopt and what clothes to wear but he’d still look out of place, keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 06:46Imagine it, two females daring to talk about cricket. Mel Jones on Sky is one if the best in their line up.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 11:17Women on TMS are as incongruous as say Michael Portillo appearing in a drill video. …thirteen blokes on a field with a bat and ball… drives huge subscriptions for Sky and thus huge money. A large number of the subscribers that watch cricket will be male.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 06:46Imagine it, two females daring to talk about cricket. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for viewers to expect that the people giving expert analysis have at least played in the arena, in such competitions and have experience of the environment they’re commenting on.
Perhaps women expert analysers can’t accurately comment about men’s cricket as it is very different to the way women’s cricket is played. One such example is that women players don’t know what it’s like to face a 90mph bowler or the pressure of playing in front of a full capacity. To that extent, perhaps the women expert analysers aren’t particularly qualified to talk about Men’s cricket and the specific nuances that come with playing the game at that level, as they simply haven’t experienced it…
Are they expert on women’s cricket? Yes, absolutely.

Re: The future of boxing on Sky Sports
I used to attend live sport to get away from the women in my life for a few hours. Women at sport kills the dynamic and atmosphere (for men).
Female commentators and hosts are just as capable and often better than the males but they are still women. Men and women are different. Men need time to be men by themselves.

Re: The future of boxing on Sky Sports
…Played at totally different levels… and that’s why some reject certain analysers as they can talk about cricket but not with insight and first hand hand experience of having played at the elite level themselves.
A bit like why you don’t have ex non-league male players working as pundits on SKY for the premier league coverage. Technically it’s the same game but those non-league players can’t tell you what it’s like playing, for example, in a Liverpool-United match in front of 74,000 at Old Trafford. They aren’t expert at that level. They are outside observers and can’t give insight based on having been there and done it.
Not an issue for some, sure. But an issue for others.
Re: The future of boxing on Sky Sports
It's not about the level they played at. It's their sex. Blowers made TMS what it was for decades and his First Class career was back in the days when Cambs University were classed as First Class.liamlion wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 15:12…Played at totally different levels… and that’s why some reject certain analysers as they can talk about cricket but not with insight and first hand hand experience of having played at the elite level themselves.

Reg Gutteridge, Harry Carpenter and Ian Darke. All top level commentators, none of them fought at the top level. Come on genius, explain it to me.liamlion wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 15:12…Played at totally different levels… and that’s why some reject certain analysers as they can talk about cricket but not with insight and first hand hand experience of having played at the elite level themselves.

Also as the front man they asked the questions rather than being the resident expert.
Experience has done nothing for Adam Smith though
Re: The future of boxing on Sky Sports
I think the same as this. If Sky are moving away from an exclusive deal they'll need someone still to run shows. Who else is there to turn to? Eddie and Frank are tied up on DAZN. Wasserman are out the picture, thank goodness, with Channel 5. Boxxer will be back but with limited dates. That's what I see happening.maverick23 wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025, 02:49
Boxxer will continue on Sky but on a show by show basis I think. They’ve got fighters who have deals with Sky too (like Whittaker). I don’t know if they have enough to do many other shows outside of that with a different network.
It won’t have anything to do with Azim not fighting. I’d imagine Sky were pushing Boxxer to improve the undercard last night hence the Azim fight being added.
Re: The future of boxing on Sky Sports
If there are multiple promoters who essentially have to propose a card to Sky and Sky say yes or no to it then you think it should have better events but probably less of them.steve689 wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025, 17:20I think the same as this. Re: The future of boxing on Sky Sports
Sky have started giving Usyk - Dubois quite abit of attention recently, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they reached a deal with DAZN to be a PPV partner.
If that’s the case and they can do the same with the other Saudi/DAZN PPVs they might be happy with that, and Boxxer cards with Whitaker, Azim and Simpson if it’s an non exclusive deal.
