Cool that's it's gonna be on Netflix. I'm glad that they're making the move to get into big fights as opposed to just novelty act fights.

TURKI ALALSHIKH SEEKS YOUNG, HUNGRY FIGHTERS FOR CANELO-CRAWFORD UNDERCARD; MENTIONS NAKATANI, MASON, MBILLI

Turki Alalshikh realizes Netflix is the perfect platform on which to showcase some of the best young, hungry fighters in boxing.

The head of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority thus announced a list of potential participants on the Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford undercard Tuesday night through his X account. Junto Nakatani, The Ring’s bantamweight champ, lightweight contender Abdullah Mason and super middleweight contender Christian Mbilli were among the undefeated fighters he mentioned.

Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), of Omaha, Nebraska, will move up two weight classes to challenge Mexico’s Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) for his Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles September 13 at a venue to be determined in Las Vegas. Alalshikh announced earlier Tuesday that Netflix, which boasts more than 300 million subscribers globally, will stream the Alvarez-Crawford card worldwide.

“The world will be watching Riyadh Season’s Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight of the century on Netflix,” Alalshikh wrote on X. “And for that, I want to load the undercard with young, hungry fighters who deserve the chance to perform under the bright lights. These are some of the names I hope to see fighting in Las Vegas on Sept. 13, led by The Ring [118-pound] champion Junto [Nakatani]. If you are interested, you and your teams know how to find me.”

Alalshikh’s list, in order of how he wrote it, includes:

Junto Nakatani (bantamweight; 31-0, 24 KOs)
Christian Mbilli (super middleweight; 28-0, 23 KOs)
Mohammed Alakel (lightweight; 4-0)
Reito Tsutsumi (featherweight; 1-0)
Justin Viloria (junior lightweight; 9-0, 7 KOs)
Emiliano Alvarado (junior featherweight; 7-0, 5 KOs)
Jamar Talley (2-0, 2 KOs)
Abdullah Mason (lightweight; 19-0, 17 KOs)
Nishant Dev (1-0, 1 KO)

Haney in shambles.
He could hand out bonuses like "Performance of the Night" or "Fight of the Night" like the UFC does,
instead of giving everyone 8-figure paychecks right from the start.

A few boxers have come out..

“I need parts on the September card after I Knock off Kidd Austin,” Tevin Farmer wrote on X, ahead of his fight with Floyd Schofield on June 28.

Mikaela Mayer said: “Me vs Lauren Price for Undisputed since her team fumbled our July date.”

Irish middleweight contender Aaron McKenna, impressive on the Chris Eubank-Conor Benn card in victory over Liam Smith, said: “I’m ready to face Janibek, Adames, or Lara – any of the middleweight world champions. Let’s make it happen on the Canelo Vs Crawford card – let’s light up the 160lbs division. The Irish are coming.”

ALLEGIANT STADIUM WILL HOST CANELO ALVAREZ VS. TERENCE CRAWFORD ON SEPT. 13

The last remaining piece of the puzzle for the super fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is set.

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host the Riyadh Season and TKO Group event on Sept. 13, it was announced on Tuesday.

The 65,000-seat multi-purpose stadium was originally set to host a college football game between the UNLV Rebels and Idaho State Bengals, but a deal has been struck for the boxing event to take over the date and venue.

The fight will be the venue's first combat sports event since opening in 2020.

It was announced last week that the fight between the undisputed super middleweight champion Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) will stream on Netflix.

Press conferences are scheduled this weekend to promote it, with the first set for Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the second for Sunday in New York City at Fanatics Fest.

A third press conference is scheduled for June 27 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

CRAWFORD SAYS CANELO FIGHT HAS NO WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: ‘I WANT HIM AT HIS BEST, NO EXCUSES’

Terence Crawford will jump up two weight classes to challenge undisputed super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez in their Sept. 13 superfight.

Although Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) will be the naturally smaller-framed fighter, he revealed that Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) won’t have any weight restrictions come fight night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

“Because I want him at his best,” Crawford told reporters Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, regarding potential catchweight and rehydration clauses in the contract. “I don't want no excuses. I don't want no reasons why he don't feel good or anything. I want him at his best.”

Crawford also mentioned that he didn't push for a rematch clause, but didn’t specify if Alvarez has one if he loses.

Crawford is set to have a 3 ½-inch reach advantage a half-inch height advantage. When they came face to face at the kickoff press conference, they were nearly identical in height and build. Alvarez is three years younger but has 26 more fights and has competed in 275 more rounds than Crawford.

Weight restrictions have been weighty issues for some significant fights in recent memory. Most notably, Gervonta Davis forced Ryan Garcia to take a fight at a 136-pound catchweight and with a 10-pound rehydration clause in 2023. Garcia later said he was weight drained and pointed to that as the primary reason he was knocked out by Davis.

To get a potential deal across the finish line against Alvarez, rival David Benavidez agreed last year to a rehydration clause to quell concerns that he’d be up to 25 pounds heavier. That matchup never materialized.

Alvarez has previously been on the wrong side of weight clauses in high-profile fights as well.

During his first career loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013, Alvarez entered as the reigning WBC and WBA 154-pound champion. The bout was fought at a catchweight of 152 pounds, a condition Mayweather insisted on after initially proposing 147 and 150. Alvarez, however, stood his ground and rejected a next-day weigh-in. On fight night, it was reported that Alvarez rehydrated to 165, while Mayweather weighed 150.5.

Three months from now, Alvarez should look larger than Crawford in prime time on Netflix.

Alvarez has been competing at 168 since 2018 and has even fought twice as a light heavyweight, with one of those fights being his other loss to Dmitry Bivol in 2022. Alvarez made his pro debut at 140 pounds at 15 and has won titles across 154, 160, 168, and 175.

Crawford became a lightweight champion in 2014, fought at 140 pounds from 2015-17 and became undisputed champion and competed at 147 from 2018-23 to become undisputed champion there as well. Crawford fought only once at 154, a unanimous decision win against Israil Madrimov for the WBA title in August.

Some quick notes.

Crawford on if he thinks Canelo has advantages over him
“Canelo is a great fighter. We all have agreed on that. I cannot say that another man is better than me in anything because he ain’t proven it yet. I can’t say if his jab is better than mine ‘cause I haven’t been in the ring with him. I can’t say if a person right hand is better than mine because everything that I do, I feel I do it great.”

Canelo on Crawford’s confidence
“I like that because that’s when you realize it’s going to be a good fight. I like that. I like to hear that because that’s when realize it’s going to be a great fight and I love it. I enjoy it.

“He’s a very skillful fighter. He have maybe a lot of things better than me but fighters judge me behind or out of the ring but when they into the ring with me they find out it’s different. I have a lot of talent, a lot of things, a lot of things they don’t know until they in the ring with me.”

Crawford on his mindset heading into Canelo fight
“You got two alpha males over that know what they capable of, so they don’t have to put on a front or a show. We gonna give the fans a show, for sure, but we both know what we’re capable of.”

Crawford on having a reach advantage over Canelo
“It could be in some cases, but in some cases it could be a disadvantage. Canelo’s real good at slipping in side shots and mid-range that could be his advantage. So I never think about just because I got long arms that could be my advantage. Yeah, it’s an advantage on the outside but then if the fight goes on the inside it’s what you do with your long arms, how short can you throw your shots. So I’m well-rounded on all playing fields.”

Crawford on what weight he’s currently at
“I don’t know. 155.”

Crawford on if he’s concerned that he’s only at 155 when this fight is at 168 and if getting up to that weight could hinder his style
“No, not at all ‘cause I just look at us fighters like, we carry a lot of weight anyway. I’ll just be fighting at one of my natural weights.”

Canelo on those who believe he’s a drug cheat based on failed tests in the past
“People who don’t want to believe, they don’t believe even if it is true what I say or the proof is there. They want to believe what they want to believe and I don’t really care.”
