Highly-rated Australian heavyweight prospect Teremoana Teremoana has pledged his promotional future to Matchroom, who will work with GoldStar and Tasman Fighters.

The 2024 Paris Olympian will make his debut in Monte Carlo at Salle Des Étoiles on Saturday December 14, on DAZN.

Teremoana, already 4-0 (4 KOs) in the pros, is 26 and comes from Campbelltown, a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, and he won the 2023 Pacific Games.

At the Olympics, he knocked out Ukraine’s Dmytro Lovchynski in the first round but lost to Uzbek star and eventual winner Bakhodir Jalolov in the quarter-finals.

Teremoana will be managed by Brian Peters, whose stable includes Liam Paro, Katie Taylor, Taylor Bevan and Regis Prograis, and has received rave reviews from Jai Opetaia as a sparring partner.

“I’m born and raised in Australia but I’m also very proud of my Cook Islands heritage,” said Teremoana. “I come from a long line of warriors and I’m very motivated to carry on the family name. I want the world to know it and I won't stop until I've achieved that.

“I want to be on the world stage and I know that if I put in the work I have the ability to do that. The plan is to continue to build a fan base at home in Australia but also all around the world. I'm excited to get going on this journey and the first stop is Monte Carlo.

“I’ve learned so much over the last few years and really enjoyed the Olympic experience but now it's time for a new phase in my career. My dream is to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world and I believe with Matchroom, GoldStar, and Tasman Fighters behind me I can achieve that.”

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn said he was thrilled to have signed the 6ft 6ins prospect.

“I’m delighted to add another exciting heavyweight talent to our growing global stable,” said Hearn. "Teremoana gave us all a glimpse of what he is capable of in the Paris 2024 Olympics and his style and ability has improved drastically in recent years. He sees his Matchroom debut next month in Monte Carlo as his new professional debut and I’m sure he will be putting many in the heavyweight division on notice.”

Decent boxer and huge, will be an interesting full time pro. What weight he ends up at will be interesting… last time he fought pro he was 300 and not really fat though neeeds to weigh less… biggg boy, not often you get a 6”6 islander boxer (if your 6”6 and islander you probably play second row or number 8 in rugby…)

Teremoana scores ‘scary knockout’ of Bowie Tupou in 74 seconds

Teremoana Teremoana scored one of the most vicious finishes of the year dismissing Bowie Tupou in stunning fashion with a right uppercut in just 74 seconds.

Teremoana moved in behind straight shots and a right uppercut sent Tupou’s eyes into orbit and stole his legs from beneath him. His back to the ropes, Tupou slumped slowly and grimly to the deck, staring straight up in a ghostly fashion with his head nestoling on the bottom ropes with medics at the Melbourne Pavilion instantly being summoned.

“That was one of the scariest knockouts I’ve seen,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “This guy’s got devastating power. These are the kind of opponents you have to go through on the way to the top. They’re the kind of opponent you hope will give you rounds… This is going to be a huge star. He’s got power in both hands and he’s a giant of a man.”

Hearn said Teremoana could soon fight in Saudi Arabia but he is also keen to keep him active in Australia, starting in July.

“I believe I'm world championship potential... I’m excited to be busy,” said the heavyweight. “I’ve got to earn my stripes. Anyone who steps in the ring, I’ll take them out.”

Teremoana was looking for the right hand around the guard early on and even the ones that Tupou took on the gloves seem to rattle the veteran and it was of little surprise what happened when a clean shot landed. Tupou is now 29-9 (20 KOs) and the 43-year-old will surely consider his options now.

Teremoana is now 11-0 (11 KOs).

Yes, he put together some combinations, and the uppercut was nicely thrown and landed - and devastating. But let's be realistic, he was fighting an overmatched, forty-something journeyman who really had no business being in the ring with him.

It's time to level up his competition.

He should fight McKean and Goodall next for some regional scalps that give him exposure against guys that will actually fight back, even if he's a huge favourite. After that he could either try go for an alphabet Asian belt against Zhang or Dychko, or go for a commonwealth belt against the likes of Adeleye, Dacres, Hughie or Lerena.

i just dont get the matchmaking. this is a guy who shows all type of talent and promise in a huge frame. he beat olympic medalists, accomplished international champs, and hanged with the best in the world as an am. why the need for the kid gloves when you've got an explosive heavy who looks like he has a lot of the goods?

I reckon he would beat Stevan but the fight would go a few rounds. Ivic has the skills but no power. Perfect step up fight for Teramoana and I think it would be for the Aussie title.

Good fighter, he just should find a way to do more rounds. 11 pro fights in 5 years and a half, and only 13 rounds on the ring overall. He gets good ratings and is impressive, but he has never been past a second round.

That fight was bad for Tupou, bad for Tremoana and bad for boxing. Tupou lost by KO1 against Joseph Parker, 11 years ago. If teremoana want to build his record, at least fight 7 - 8 times a year against guys who are not old and not overweight

he beat guys handily in the ams who are much better than anyone he's faced in the pros, i think he can make the climb up the levels pretty far, but this level of opposition isn't going to help him
