Strickland must have been a massive underdog last night after the way Chimaev dominated and dethroned former champ Du Plessis in his previous fight.

I was shocked to read that Sean Strickland dethroned Khamzat Chimaev of his middleweight title last night.

Re: MMA
I only saw the highlights and thought Chimaev was a bit unlucky although i was delighted for Strickland. What i would say is that Sean did a great job nullifying Chimaev's ground game, Chimaev looked like he ran out of idea's like he had no idea how to submit Sean which was surprising to see to say the least.Baby Face Finster wrote: ↑10 May 2026, 08:54 I was shocked to read that Sean Strickland dethroned Khamzat Chimaev of his middleweight title last night.![]()

Re: MMA
Islam Makhachev beat Ian Machado Garry last night by UD to retain his Welterweight title but didn't look as dominant as when he was fighting at Lightweight. Garry was taken down half a dozen times but Makhachev barely did anything with his ground control and Garry was able to get out of a few takedowns. Islam kind of looked gassed after the 2nd round. I think if Garry had concentrated more on leg kicks he could have won yesterday. He did land a few good kicks but needed to land a lot more.
Who's next for Makhachev, Prates or Morales? I think both will be pose a serious challenge to his title.

Re: MMA
I expect Prates could/should be next, and if Morales already is phisically way too imposing for welters, Carlos is another kind of beast that will require at least more intensity from Islam to be contained.
Good win against Garry, though.

Song Yadong brutally KO'd Umar Nurmagomedov in the 2nd round today in Shanghai.
I just love it when one of those huggers from Dagestan or Chechnya lose and even better when it's by KO.
