He hasn't fought since September and no fight has been scheduled for this year yet.

I really wish he was more active.

There is talk about fighting Tarver in the US, whilst in the meantime we must pray Gonzalez isn't made the mandatory again.

The Calzaghe fight should've happened. That was such a natural for Woods. But of course rival TV stations and rival promotions have to fvck things up.

Last I heard Team Woods were in talks with Jones Jr and Tarver, again!!!

Like others have said already though, Woods vs Calzaghe should have happened by now.

If Roy is truly sliding as the pundits are claiming,
Then it’s a good time to tidy up Woods' record.

BTW, what's in the way of an Erdei–Woods unification?
Has either party attempted to promote it?

Dawson is the fight I'd like to see, he's the youngest and hungriest target, and would come to fight. Tarver is dull as dishwater and is yesterday's man.

Dawson could be Clinton's version of Jeff Lacy if all went well.

I don't think anyone can call Woods the top man in the division. Dawson beating Adamek has more weight than edging by Johnson. Clinton deserved a payday against Calzaghe. It would've been a great fight but wankers can't put fights together.

Erdei said after his facile win over Danny Santiago he wanted to travel to the US for unifications. Let's hope he is true to his word, Erdei could hold is own with any of the bunch i think. Woods V Dawson would be good but you would have to favour Dawson after beating the tough Adamek. However give Clinton his dues he is a tough fella and would give an argument to any of the other "champions".

As for Tarver i agree, yesterdays news. His bullshit was bigger than his bite. Always talked a good fight but never delivered in his major showdown with Hopkins. Other than that nothing on his ledger stands out to me, Jones Jnr was probably never the same after the weight loss.

Adamek's overrating came because of his fights with Briggs though? Johnson was more of a name and probably more proven.

And, after beating Johnson and now regarded as prob the best light heavyweight in the world Dennis is looking to capitalise by getting Clinton on HBO or Showtime. Zolt, an unknown outside of Germany, doesn't fit the bill there.

Dennis tried to make a Kessler fight but, although a deal was reachable, ultimately Kessler decided to stay at super-middle at least for a few more fight.
Woods is the best light heavy in the world how? Talk about toeing the party line!

Hopkins, Dawson and Adamek are ahead of him. Woods barely beat an ancient Johnson in their third fight. Dawson just clearly beat Adamek. Hopkins clearly beat Tarver. Woods is number 3 at best. I would have him at 4 or 5.

How Is Adamek ahead of Woods?

Whats he done except for looking like a brawler against Paul Briggs and getting whooped by Dawson?

Hopkins only fought the fraud and ancient Tarver(Like you said Johnson was.) who got the ring belt for beating Jones who had to prove he could still handle LHW.

Hopkin's Is just waiting around for another payday now and theres no use ranking those kind of fighters.

Woods wins over Johnson and Gonzalez are higher than Adamek and Harding.

Look at the manner of the wins. Woods scraped by against Johnson, Tarver is 1-1 against Johnson and Hopkins clearly beat him. I can't see how you can have Woods ahead of Hopkins even with Hopkins only having 1 fight at the weight. Dawson beat Adamek and Harding clearly he should definitey be above Woods.

Woods is overrated, a great bloke and a decent fighter but he is nowhere near number 1 in the division. Don't let British sentiments get in the way of blindingly obvious fact.

Clearly Is Irrelevant, they all have different fighting styles.

I don't have Woods as No 1 but Johnson was more proven than Adamek who got a little overrated for his wins over Briggs who some though should of got the second decision.

Gonzalez was more proven than Harding too.

I don't British sentiments get In the way and wheres this obvious fact?

Tarver beat Jones when he came back down from moving out of LHW so that shouldn't of made him No 1.

I don't rate Tarver above Woods.

Anyway not getting into a debate about it but Woods is nothing like the number 1 in the division other than in the minds of FA/Secondsout.

Dawson is definitely the fight everyone wants to see. Right now Hopkins (possibly) and Dawson (definitely) can be ranked ahead of Clinton. I have Woods ahead of Erdei and Tarver though.

Too bad Woods couldn't come to terms with the proposed Adamek clash when the latter had the WBC title.

Dawson's win was impressive, but I saw him spar for two days and think Woods has the beating of him if the fight is made this year. He has been dropped in his two world class fights thus far and Woods is a hardy bastard.

Woods is ahead of Dawson, in my view, because a win over Johnson, Gonzalez and Hoye (plus all those EBU wins) is worth a little more than off the floor wins over Harding and Ademek. You can disagree, of course.

And I'd put Hopkins ahead of Clinton IF he were to confirm that he was fighting again at 175lbs. Latest talk is him fighting Wright at some sort of catch-weight and that does not make him a light heavyweight.

And, FYI, besides my good self there is no link between SecondsOut and Fight Academy.
Far cop on Dan Raphael... I do like his reports and his rankings are pretty good - I do tend to agree with what he says more than disagree.

However, to say there is no link "other than yourself" is just a slight contradiction.... Editor of Secondsout and Press Officer for FA - thats a pretty significant link.

Also, what this link all about then if there is no association.

Hopkins v Wright is at 171 - that would be Light Heavyweight.

As for Rafael he is well known for overrating Brits.

I would say it's unclear just who is the top dog at Light Heavyweight right now, Tarver getting beat by Hopkins, and the fact that Johnson has also lost to Tarver, and his series with Woods, plus the arrival of Dawson on the scene, muddies the waters somewhat.

What we need is for Woods and Dawson to get it on, I think the winner, in the absence of Hopkins for the time being, is the top man.

I don't think Hopkins v Winky is significant, as Winky is a career light middle, and Hopkins cannot really lay claim to being the pre-eminent light heavyweight for beating the flaky tarver anyway.

But Woods beat Gonzalez easily... don't get why he is still there...
Fair play regarding Johnson I guess, but Gonzales has done nothing to deserve another crack so soon.

However, without being unfair, the same could be said of Woods, whose has his own fair share of cracks of the whip.

As worthy as anyone else in the division yes. I think the light heavyweight division lacks a kingpin, but then so do many divisions in boxing right now.

Woods v Dawson would be both a brave choice for Woods, and a great choice for the division. If Clinton were to beat Dawson, it would give him significant cachet as being the standout in the division. As I said before, I think it would be as close as he could get to doing 'A Lacy.'
