Gone But Not Forgotten

Today, exactly 25 years after his death, this former champion is remembered very dearly by me, his grandson. He was a great man--my father figure. I miss him very much (and Bessie too). (I hope you all don't mind this little public tribute to him. Look for Part II of my article on his rivalry with Panama Al Brown coming out in two weeks, in the next International Boxing Research Organization's Journal.)
