What ever happened to Mickey Goodwin - Detroit middle weight

Post by Ross »

I remember reading an article about him he was like 30-1 or something like that and was supposed to be closing in on a title shot.
Never heard another thing , then years latter heard he was making a comeback?
What ever happened to him?

Mickey Goodwin :- 40 wins (28 kos) - 2 losses - 1 draw

Looks like after being stopped by Darryl Spain in 10 rounds (in 1985) he retired and made a comeback in 1993. Won 7 fights then never fought again. He was 36 by then though and was stuggling to stop fighters so I guess he just called it quits.

He was meant to fight Hagler in 1982 but pulled out with an injury at the last minute and was replaced by William 'Caveman' Lee. Lee was stopped in one round.

In 2001 Goodwin was training fighters at Dearborn Sports. Not sure if that still is the case?

I checked his record and came to the same assumptions.
Thanks
