I don't think Holmes should have been stopped. I just seem to remember thinking that once Snipes was hurt it was quickly stopped.

IMO getting dropped and coming back to win is a true sign of greatness.

Holmes was probably dropped by Weaver too although it was ruled a slip. Again he got up to win.

I agree that it was stopped a little quickly, but at that point in the fight, Snipes had nothing left. In fact, he really wasn’t able to do much of anything after the KD, so even though I thought it was a little quick, it probably did nothing but save Mr. Snipes from taking any further punishment. And he did take quite a bit in that fight.

I also think that Holmes was dropped by Weaver as well, although I haven’t seen that fight in years. Of course, even if you count that KD, he was only dropped 4 times in his pre-retirement career, and each time came back to fight harder and win each fight. I was no big fan of his when he was fighting, but he’s in my short list of the elite HWs of all time.

I've heard talk of a ref conspiracy before in Holmes-Snipes.

King had a huge number of $'s on the line for Holmes-Cooney and badly needed Holmes to brush aside Snipes. Renaldo nearly ruined it. I haven't seen the tape etc and can't comment on that but I do always remember thinking that the ref stepped in as soon as he could once Snipes was hurt.

I think Holmes was guilty of looking beyond the guy he was in the ring with. He got caught but still managed to get through it.

Holmes controlled the fight from the first round, and was comfortably ahead when the fight was stopped. He also rose very quickly from the KD. .

There is no sound like the wailing of a clone of the modern media when he is exposed regurgitating the talking points his beloved media has fed him.

Thomas was a good fighter but struggled alot against the tougher competition.

His fight with Weaver was a good evenly matched boutand Weaver had him in trouble in round 3 connecting with solid left hooks. This fight was anyones guess until Thomas landed a single right hand which ended the fight; one of the best 1 punch knockouts.

Thomas then struggled with Coetzee and if Coetzee continued to be the aggressor as he did in the first half of the fight he could of won, but instead he let Thomas come to him and Thomas caught up in the second half of the fight scoring that draw. Coetzee doesnt fight well on the back foot but he made the mistake of letting Thomas come to him.

His fight with Tillis however I believe was Thomas at his best and he landed his jab at will against Tillis finishing him off, but the Thomas-Witherspoon fight on the other hand when he won the title was a boring dreadful fight where it looked like neither fighter did any training. His fight with Berbick was again another bore and Berbick easily avoided his jab and beat him on the inside.

Overall rating = B-

I have no idea how you can call the Berbick fight a bore.
