Steve Collins laid into Joe Calzaghe yesterday!

It does seem that Steve is having a few 'moments' recently.

However I do remember checking this site(can't rememeber how long ago, mind you, not that long ago) and Collins was on here as the No 1 Super middle of All time?

Even Collins wouldn't go that far regarding himself

Too many holes in this plot. So Collins could get up for Craig Cummings & Frederic Seillier, but not a young live contender like Calzaghe?

We all know Collins retired rather than fight JC, BUT, having said that, JCs legacy is all smoke & mirrors & bollocks, it wouldn't surprise me if a beast like Collins could have whopped him.

I dont think JC has much to hold Collins off. A messy 12 rds either way.

Steve Collins career= anti climax.

Calzaghe would have outboxed him, but lets not forget he was out on his feet in the 12th round against a weight drained Eubank its quite possible Collins could have got to him late. Let's not forget he'd never been beyond 8 before that.

Fair play to Collins for having the balls to say that. I do agree about him still not having faught anyone though not sure Collins would have been the man to beat him

It takes balls to tell the truth and Collins has clearly ventured far from the path.... you could say he's half way down the yellow brick road wearing the tin man's costume!

I always liked Collins as a fighter, he was as hard as they come. But the guy was one dimensional and Calzaghe would have out boxed him at any part of his career.

Collins was offered £150k to fight Calzaghe? Don't make me laugh?He was contracted to get the same as he would have got for all other defences, he was on big money by then. He was due to divorce at the time so perhaps he is being less than truthful about his earnings but £150k? get real, it's well documented that Eubank got a massive payout for the Calzaghe fight so money was not an issue was it?

Steve was a great fighter and a decent blocke so these comments do nothing for his ongoing legacy IMO.

It appears that Steve is struggling somewhat with life after boxing, and possibly is becoming a little green-eyed about Calzaghe's standing post Lacy having eclipsed his own achievements.

Steve was I think a little underrated partly because of his late wins over Eubank and Benn. Eubank wasn't quite in his prime, though still very dangerous, and Benn was clearly badly shopworn by the time Steve got to him, but I think Collins on his night was enough of a hdndful to give anyone a rough night's work including Calzaghe.

These comments aren't doing him any favours though, that's for sure.

Yeah 150k sounds abit off considering he got a million each for the Eubank II, Benn I and Benn II fights, even though Joe was nobody and Warren had Naz to pay.

Eubank got around 350-400k for the Calzaghe fight, just like he got for the Collins II, Thompson I and Thompson II fights.

Mind you Calzaghe only got around 200k for the Reid and Woodhall fights
