oi Vey...  This is awful.
This isn't exactly a fair and balanced look at his career. (But of course you aren't anti-Ali are you?)

Why do you even mention these computer fights and films? They mean absolutley nothing.

Instead of pointing out that Ali easily won the 2nd Frazier fight, you only say that it's the least remembered of their 3 fights.
He wasn't really hurt by Powell. He wasn't hurt by Jerry Quarry and wasn't bullied around easily.

You mention that Howard Cosell thought the Evangelista fight was horrible (which it was). Yet conveniently you don't mention how great so many of his other fights were.

There may be a few people who think Ali lost the 2nd Norton fight, but most people think he won. This wasn't that controversial. Norton certainly wasn't robbed.

Lets go over the factual mistakes:

Ali lost every round of the Foreman fight? What in the world are you talking about? The fight was about even when it ended. Ali won at least 3 rounds beofre the last round.

Ali was dropped in the Shavers fight? Umm, no he wasn't. Obviously you haven't seen the fight.
Btw-You are wrong that in the Shavers that Ali was the only one hurt in the fight. Ali hurt Shavers and had him in serious trouble.

Try watching these fights.
Try using some logic to make informed opinions.
Try being fair.
Try getting your facts straight.

Alp, you should have just stopped after repeating my Oi Vey.

It's probably best if we all simply ignore this thread and move on.

Yeah, I have to say this is a little biased. I could just as easily make a thread like this about Joe Louis and it would look twice as bad as this.

Let's see you do that.

Louis had 23 knockouts in 27 title fights.

Louis never lost his title to a novice who had only 7 professional fights,

like Ali did to Leon Spinks..

Louis was never given gift decisions against Doug Jones, Jimmy Young, Ken Norton, etc.

Louis never fought Ken Norton a total of THIRTY-NINE rounds without ever knocking him down.

Louis didn't quit in his corner against Marciano

like Ali did against Holmes.

No one ever said Louis' important fights were fixed,

unlike the stench from the Liston-Ali "fights."

Louis GAVE WALCOTT A RETURN FIGHT and knocked him out.

Post a photo of Walcott flopped on the canvas for a count of ten, decagon.

ALI NEVER gave Doug Jones a return fight.

Ali NEVER gave Jimmy Young a return fight--even though Young beat Ron Lyle and Foreman in his next important fights after embarrassing Ali.

Buzz the boxing expert shows up.

And, as usual, his post contains NOT A WORD about the topic of boxing.

You have kept your record of never touching on the subject of boxing intact, buzz.

Tell us again about Joe Frazier's singing.

Tell us again how you once had contact with a distant relative of a mobster.

That is as close as poor buzz will ever get to boxing.

Granfairy... I promised pundit I wouldn't respond to you, sorry.

Ali had a better career than Louis, in any way you want to look at it.

Hey Grumbleberry I read, learn and am still acquiring knowledge. I wish only to learn from granmasters such as yourself. Though you embarass your self mightily at times...you waste no energy on humility. Which is always entertaining to those of us who are but humble students.

Dear IFeelLikeaFairy,

What you know about the subject you could write on the head of a pin.

An equal statement to yours would be that

you have had a better career as a mathematician than Isaac Newton, in any way you want to look at it.

Buzz, it is impossible for one like yourself, who does not know the very fundamentals of the subject of boxing, to "acquire knowledge" in the subject.

LOL.

Tell us again about Joe Frazier's singing, buzz.

Then tell us all EXACTLY WHAT you would advise a fighter of yours to do

in facing an opponent who had a good left hook.

Tell us all about it, buzz.

Show us all some of the "knowledge" you have "acquired."

That shouldn't be a hard question for someone with your acquired "knowledge," buzz.

And I have plenty more such questions after you "answer" that simple question.

Show us all your "knowledge," buzz.

Decagon wrote:I've read plenty of BoxBuzz's posts, and I've never seen him write anything as stupid as "everyone on the East Coast" knowing about a fix. That shows that you don't even have a basic understanding of the machinations of boxing, Granberry.
That I can not match Granberry's stupidity is but one milestone in my humble yet willfull rise toward a greater acquired knowledge of boxing. I am hoping that in the future even more remarkable things than this will be able to be said about my quest. For now I will simply and with great humility say "thank you" to Decagon for this recognition.

I shall now go forth with a new resolve to focus on ever greater accomplishments in the future.

George Foreman- KO 8th; Ali lost every round of the fight until the time of the kayo
Did he? I am not sure what the official scorecards read at the time of the KO, but I have Ali ahead 4 rounds to 3.

Also, having watched Clay-Jones I can say that Clay won a close but clear decision. The only reason anyone could have scored it to Jones is the anti-Clay sentiment at the time (largely thanks to his motormouth).

Never seen Ali-Young, but tend to agree that Ali was lucky to get the decision over Norton. Also, every fight after the Thrilla in Manilla was that of a faded, Parkinson's already setting-in Ali, who should not really have been fighting any more. So those fights are about as relevant as Mariano-Louis in terms of legacy.

and will probably continue untill we give in... has anyone ever been to a meeting, when it gets to the end, you all want to go, and the question 'any other business' is uttered?

and someone (always the same ilk of person) puts their hand up with a question that keeps us all there for another hour, with reffering to past minutes, and points of order?

well thats how i feel with these posts, tbh.... if 99 out of 100 people disagree with him, but one person agrees, he must see it as a matter of time untill the other 99 see the light...
