I corrected the list by moving James Zimmerman to 201 and Saul Ayon to 201+ and adding Anthony Tettis to 201. I'm not sure if there are any other errors on the USA Boxing website listing. I also looked at the listing by region and was amazed at how many at-large bids were given. There are 4 at-large bids at 141. Danny Garcia was given an at-large bid at 141 even though he entered the Pan Am box-offs at 132.

Mel, in your website you have Qa’id Muhammad representing the PAL team @ 112, and Rau’shee Warren representing one of the trials team @ 119, so is Rau'shee @ 112 or 119 ?

According to USA Boxing's list, Rau'shee decided to take his spot at 112# for the National PAL and the automatic bye into the quarter-finals and Olympic Trials. I think that is a smart move as long as he will be able to continue to make 112# for the next 15 months. Qa'id was the runner-up so he won't be representing the PAL, but will in the US Championships at 112.

Sometimes USAB's info is not correct. If Rau'shee can't keep 112 for 15 months, he won't be going to the Olympics. I would guess the accurate entry list will be determined at registration next week.

If USAB sticks to its guns, there won't be any changes since they had an entry DEADLINE. However, that never seems to happen. Mel - it is not next week it is this week Thursday and Friday.

My predictions now that the brackets are out.

106: Gabino Saenz, Luis Yanez, Jerail Singleton, Marco Rangel, Roberto Ceron, Diego Hurtado, Malcolm Franklin, Daniel Lozano

119: Gary Russell, Jr., Alex Ramos, Ronny Rios, Sergio Perales, Roberto Marroquin, Sammy DiPace, David Clark, Teddy Padilla

125: Rico Ramos, Rosey Summerville, Hylon Williams, Mark Davis, Ernesto Garza III, Raynell Williams, Jesse Carradine, Charles Huerta

132: Terence Crawford, James Villa, Sadam Ali, Gary Russell III, Jerry Belmontes, Stan Martyniouk, Diego Magdaleno, Isiah Williams-Windley

141: Michael Dallas, Samuel Martinez, Brad Solomon, Karl Dargan, Jeremy Bryan, Danny Garcia, David De La Cruz, Andre Sherard

152: Keith Thurman, Boyd Melson, Demetrius Andrade, William Jackson, Willie Padilla, Charles Hatley, Dominique Dolton, Greg Carter

165: Danny Jacobs, Zack Hardwick, Shawn Porter, Fernando Guerrero, Omar Henry, Jonathon Nelson, Shawn Estrada, Edwin Rodriguez

178: Yathomas Riley, Christopher Downs, Siju Shabazz, De'Rae Crane, Bear Richardson, Joshua Garza, William Rosinsky, Lionell Thompson

201: Jordan Shimmell, Adam Willett, Joe Guzman, Deontay Wilder, Joey Dawejko, Anthony Tettis, Craig Baker, James Zimmerman - no changes based upon the final entries. As in all weight classes it depends on the draw since 2 of these guys could face each other before the quarter-finals.

201+: Michael Hunter, Andrew Shepherd, Nathaniel James, Mike Wilson, Felix Stewart, Clarence Tillman, Jonte Willis, Kimdo Bethel - I'm picking Willis to make it but I still think he should have received a 30 day suspension which would have prevented him from being in this tourney.

Just a note - Outstanding boxers are picked by the officials in the finals. Don't know if there will be a team trophy or not. Can't remember if one was given last year.......

Yo "box mel" check your sources but i know that last year the officials didn't have da' input, so it may have been done in da' past but not in 2006. Maybe you can check i is right, but i think it didn't happen in 2006 that way. Team trophy is given for da' region that wins like always at da' championships at leat last year and 2005 from what i 'member. I am out :box:

jpm1978 - Since I've worked every Championships since 1999, I think I'm a good source of information. The officials ALWAYS pick the outstanding boxers. Glad your source knows the answers, too.

201-Jordan Shimmel
201+ Mike Hunter

Also, I heard a rumor that USA Boxing is wanting to establish a residential program for our Olympic boxers? Is this true? Seems like the boxers would be better off staying with the Coach that trained him and got him to this point instead of moving him to an entirely different environment and to different coaches.

People really are starting to get behind Raynell Williams. Of course, if he doesn't beat Luis Del Valle today, he's not even going to the Trials. And Danny Garcia has to get by Hecor Ramos today, so those are both bold picks.

Before all the changes at USAB - governance reform, etc. - there was talk of establishing a resident program at the OTC. I don't think it ever got to the planning stage. Many other countries have this type of set up, i.e., Cuba, Russia, and produce excellent international boxers. It will remain to be seen if this ever gets put into practice. I really don't see individual egos allowing it to happen, but you never know.

Yo no a bad choice ¨scalifan¨but rico was a beast if you wath da´dvds they sold on the USA boxing website a few months ago. but i here he didn´t go to the pan-ams cuz of his personal problems or maybe it was his lady. so why he punk out of da´pan-ams. he ain´t got no international experience so i wonder where his heart is. don´t get me wrong i thinks he gotta shot for sure. well see. my original predictions are still pretty good lets see. I had Ceron vs. Yanez in da´finals with Yanez winning so i still got the right one to win. 112 I had Warren against Alafa and this is pendin but my prediction still good. at 119 i had Russell vs. Perales with Russell winning - even tho´Perales is out dipace won´t get by Russell, so i am still ok. 125 lbs. I had Davis so I ain´t no soothsayer there. 132 lbs. I had Crawford vs. Magdeleno so i still in the running. At 141 i had Dargan vs. Ramos so I was way off that one, but it looks like da´longshot from Cali - Molina - gonna win it all this was the upset of the tourney :TU: . 152 lbs. i had Andrade ¨Scooby¨ vs. Thurman with ¨Scooby winning so i ain´t too far there. 165lbs. i had Jacobs vs. Nelson with Jacobs winning so, i still in the running. at 178 lbs. i had Downs vs. Riley with Downs again i still in the running. 201 lbs. i had Willet vs. Carey with Willet winning but Willet got upset like many so i could be half right for da´finals. at 201+ i picked Wilson vs. Hunter wit Hunter winning so this is still pretty good. So i may be a soothsayer. since i didn´t know da´ladies that well i made some mistakes from researching them on the internet but i had Loo, Esparza, Downing, Berry, Swanson, Kuronya, Parks, Crews, Hemmingway, and Crane so i ain´t too bad cuz they all still in da´runnin. boy this nationals was full of upsets  !! dargan, ramos, devalle all made da´pan-ams so i guess they can at least get some sun in rio 8)

I guess its undeniable that Shawn Porter is now the leader at 165, having beaten Danny Jacobs by 10 points.
