If you are referring to Jacob Finkelstein aka Jackie Fields, 1924 Olympic featherweight champion and two-time NBA world welterweight champion - yes. :TU:

If you are referring to Jacob Finkelstein, professor of pediatrics at University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry - no.

I'm interested but they are too hard for me.

Perhaps BRR or John Galt will be able to supply an answer. Let's give them a chance before you post the answers, Ray.

Of course, granberry would have known them all. Bless his racist heart!

When Mike Tyson came over to London in 1987 to plug a fight with Bruno (which took two years to make due to Robin Givens), Tyson was going crazy about Owen Moran. Back home he had the Jim Jacobs film archive collection at his fingertips, of course, and said that Moran (from Birmingham) was one of the best fighters he had ever seen.
It was actually funny to hear him 'bigging up' Moran. Tyson knew his boxing history all right, which is why it so surprised me when he bit off part of Holyfield's ear.

I believe you miss my point. He crossed the line from boxing, which is controlled, to violence, which is uncontrolled and as far away from boxing as one can even begin to contemplate.

Well Holyfield himself was one of the most dirtiest fighters in the ring.

He had a constant 'habit' of headbutting his opponents.

I mean there is a clip on YouTube where he Headbutts AND Lowblows his opponent at the same time !

Well, nobody is condoning what Tyson did, but Holyfields headbutting was going to catch upto him. Opening up Gashes in Tysons head in the first bout was bad enough. But opening up Gashes in Tyson's head AGAIN in the second bout resulted in Tyson losing it.

Dirty fighters are acceptable in boxing, in my opinion. They do it shrewdly (ala your Holyfield example or like the renowned Fritzie Zivic, who was never disqualified) or certainly with the sole intention of ultimately winning the fight. Tyson actions had nothing to do with winning or losing, and thus had nothing to do with sport.
It was senseless street violence.

In this regard, friend bennie, we will have to agree to disagree. Winning a fight by cheating is never acceptable, whatever the motivation or intention.

But on this point you, me AND Mike Tyson can agree: Owen Moran was one helluva fighter - sadly forgotten by many today.
