The Hennessy Sports promoted Fury says he has no problems fighting in his opponent’s back yard on a rival promoter’s event. “It will make a nice change for Frank Maloney to finally have a decent heavyweight on one of his shows. I’ve watched some of the big lumps he’s had on his shows recently and its like watching Dumbo on Ice, they can barely stand upright, let alone throw punches.
“To be fair to John McDermott he’s the best of a bad lot with Maloney’s heavyweights and thankfully for him he can fight a lot better than he looks.”
Maloney recently criticised Fury saying that he had a big mouth but Fury says he’s ready, willing and able to back up his big talk. “That’s the difference between me and a lot of these other guys. I might talk the talk but I walk the walk as well and I’ll prove that against McDermott.
“Maloney obviously believes that McDermott can beat me but I think that just proves what I said before, what Maloney knows about heavyweights could be tattooed on the back of my big toe.”
The latest venue mooted for the bout is the Brentwood Centre in Essex but Fury says he’s not fussed where the fight takes place. “They keep changing the venue, first it was the York Hall, then it was Crystal Palace and now I’ve been told it’s moved again to Brentwood but they can put it on in McDermott’s back garden as far as I’m concerned, the result will be the same anyway. I’m going to be coming home with that English title belt.”
can anyone tell me whats SENSATIONAL about tyson fury. what has he done in his career so far. all he is is a fat heavyweight with a bit of a punch at british level he.ll get found out when big bad john ko.s him
He's not "fat" – he looks a little unconditioned like "Big Bad John" himself but Daniel Peret is "fat". For his size he has excellent handspeed and variety and has been matched tougher than most heavyweight prospects with similar experience. Add in an entertaining back story and an outgoing personality (to put it kindly) and that's why people are talking about him. Despite less than 10 fights Fury is probably in the top 10 of current British fighters the man on the street will have heard of.

Unless the Irish Title Fight comes against Rogan then it won't be worth looking at for Fury, assuming he beats Big John of course.
He should look to maybe have a couple more after Big John against some decent Euro maybe even US journyemen, then look at the British Title.

but why should he look to europe for fights. i think he should be the best in britain first before he moves on .
i know a lot of people on here are talking about what he.s gonna do but i wait until he.s had about 15-20 fights and then ill make a propper judgement

He can fill the gap that will arise between winning the English Title and going for the British with a couple of decent tests.
If he can find those tests in British Fighters, then great. Problem is, he won't.
Fury seems keen on fighting regularaly. Beat McDermott and then have another quick couple before going for Williams, assuming he doesn't get stripped after Prizefighter.

ive seen quite alot of tyson, and i must say that i am on the band wagon. He looks quite intimidating and has power.
I think he will stop mcdermott, and then TRY and get decent opponents, as he has had problems in the past.
I think if he gets nurtured propally, he can go all the way, but we need to see more from him and against worthy opponents.

all we can gauge at this stage is that hes tall...he not 100% conditioned ..
and his opponents have been dire
chisora is still a better prospect (if he stops chewing )

After punching himself in the face, it is difficult to take Fury too seriously.
I expect him to stop McDermot in under three rounds though.
What we need now is Big A Force to win Prizefighter, then take on Fury in a ding dong a go go.

I'd take Price to beat Fury, even given his inactivity to date. Fury has plenty of time to progress though as in heavyweight terms he's a nipper.

Here we go again why is it that we the British boxing fan start all this hype the minute a heavyweight comes on the scene if he should lose against Big John he will be writen off as just another bum when really he is a novice learning his trade.
So far he has knocked over a bunch of overweight punch bags John McDermott is his first live opponent if he beats john it still won't make him world class but it's a step up that's all.
If he is steered correctly taking progressive fights not just a line of east European asylum seekers then maybe after 20/30 fights we can get a bit excited until then lets just view his fights as work in progress

If Danny wins the prize fighter then it should be fury if he wins. Or the winner of prize fighter if it isn't danny to meet fury in a box of would be a logical decision

The prizefighter is making it a little confusing. Say Danny gets KO'd in his first round fight - then that guy loses in the semi's or final on points. Who should get the shot... the guy who clean Ko'd the champ, or the winner of prizefighter.
And with Danny and his chin these days, that scenerio can happen.

I think Fury is gonna get rushed!! He's putting too much pressure on himself with his mouth and by doing this he is having to be matched tough!! The McDermott fight will tell you something about Fury BUT right now all he's being known for is his mouth!! That'll change if he fights and beats someone like Williams,Harrison or Sprott!! I still think Chisora and Price are gonna be the ones to shine though!! I also feel if Big Larry can get some great sparring and learn the game a little more he could push them too!!

Although he has'nt been passed 4 rounds and has had 7 wins coming within the distance. I dont think he's a big puncher, his opponents aint been the best. He stunned them with one shot and then jumped on them with 6-7 punches.
Saying i would'nt like to be hit by him
John's really up for this one, been sparring and training Great. I see Fury coming out Fast for the 4-5 rounds then blowing out and getting stopped in 8-9.. Think its come to quick for Fury..

I like Fury strongly in this one. I don't think Skelton is a one punch concussive puncher either. I think McDermott will be intimidated by the sheer size of Fury.

I agree. Hard body shots, but nothing terrifying. If he could develop a hard, fast jab that would be an immense weapon. He'd need to be in better shape first, though.

Its hard to take any 'prospect' seriously who boxes with rolls of jiggling fat hanging off his frame.
