Anyway, guys, just to let you know that an impromptu Press Conference has just taken place in Bolton.
Ryan was over there sorting some kit out, and who does he bump into ?
You've guessed it !

For the record Jamie and Ryan only met this afternoon and had a good giggle concerning the chats we are having on here.
They met near Bolton and have the utmost respect for each other!!!
Nice photo of them actually!!

How many times has Rhodes withdrawn from a fight ?
Of those withdrawals, how many were unjustifed, not backed up by medical evidence in the case of injury or illness ?
Same question to you about Moore.
I am puzzled where this line of "Rhodes has history" comes from.
Turning now to a Press Conference, is 18 hours sufficient notice of a cancellation ?
Ryan has spoken to Frank M consistantly from the date he was offered the fight, to the signing of contracts, right up to the day before Frank's recent problems began, and at no stage has there been any animosity whatsoever.
Oh and by the way, Dogbreath, Dean will be in Ryan's corner fight night.
I just saw the post.
Anyway, I think the point is this: if you have arranged a press conference, and asked journalists to travel and make arrangements, telling someone the night before must still be frustrating. I'm not saying that Ryan's going to burn in hell for all eternity for his actions, and I'm sure he acted as best as he could after he took the decision -- or somebody took the decision for him -- not to attend.
However, irrespective of how he behaved, it still doesn't change the frustration and inconvenience of the situation. If I tell my mam I'm coming home for a family meal, and she corrals grandparents, aunts, and uncles into coming, and buys in a whole bunch of special food, and books a table at the local pub for after, and then I call her the night before and tell her that, "sorry, I can't come, because I've had a change of plan, but I can't come the following week," I've acted professionally and done the right thing, but she probably still feels frustrated at (1) all the work gone into it that will go to waste, and (2) an excuse which she feels is not acceptable.
I usually hate making a point with an analogy, because people then start picking holes in the analogy, rather than the argument itself, which I'm sure will now happen, but I thought I'd give it a go, because I think this one holds true.
Meantime, the number of times Ryan has pulled out of fights as a ratio or in proportion to the number of times Jamie has pulled out of fights
is completely irrelevant. We're not discussing the moral rights and wrongs of that position -- on that, you might have a point -- but rather the concern a promoter feels when faced with a no show from a fighter who has very recently just pulled out of a big fight.
Your second point, that Jamie has pulled out of fights before, too, is therefore wholly irrelevant, because whether he has or hasn't doesn't change the concern a promoter might feel about
Rhodes not showing up.
At the end of the day, though, this is all conjecture. It might be that the whole thing was just to add some fake needle between the fighters to garner publicity and add a few more to the attendance.
But I was answering Spud's question, who asked why Steve and Jamie were getting so worked up. Logically, I think that frustration and concern are the likeliest candidates.
Hope that satisfies you.
PS: Did you call me "Dogbreath"?

No mate - Dogbreath is my alternative name for Beagleboy.
Appreciate you taking the time to answer but in reality you've not answered.
It was you who said Rhodes had a history of pulling out of fights, so simply I've asked you to back it up.
The only one you've come up with is I assume the Small fight, for which he had to withdraw due to a nasty chest infection - you know, similar to the infection Moore had, when pulling out of the Colas fight !!!!
What I'm saying loud and clear that this myth portrayed about Rhodes withdrawing from fights on a regular basis is precisely that - MYTH.
If you have any other examples I will answer you.
How do you feel the journo's felt when Tuesday's Presser was cancelled at 4pm on Monday ?
Anyway it's all history now, and we have another Presser set for this week.
Jesus I hope the car doesn't break down.

Well, OK, let's say it was a myth about Rhodes pulling out of fights. A myth in which I'm not the only one who believes, but let's call it a myth.
So what? He pulled out of the Small fight, Wood and Moore must be fairly paranoid after all the matchmaking bad luck Moore's had, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch to be concerned.
Perhaps I was harsh.
Perhaps I was off the mark with the original post.
But if they were
genuinely p1ssed off, then I think that concern and frustration were the most likely reasons.
Anyway, appreciate your well reasoned and reasonable response.
The fact that it was neither deliriously unhinged nor excruciatingly unlettered is a huge bonus, considering some of the characters with whom one argues with here.
All the best to Ryan for the fight.
To be more serious, this is just the kind of fight British boxing needs.

So if Moore hadn't turned up, would there have been the same paranoia - because Moore pulled out of a Euro title fight against Colas ?
Of course not.
I'm all in favour of a level playing field.
What I'm saying is, if Rhodes has a "HISTORY" then so does Moore - and quite a few other boxers !
I will make sure my car is fully serviced prior to this week's Presser.
We don't want any problems, do we ?

Well, that's exactly my point: if Moore hadn't turned up, Rhodes would have been within his rights to feel frustrated by that, and, in the back of his mind, potentially worried about Moore's commitment to the fight.
But Moore did turn up, Rhodes didn't, so it's the other way around.
Are we really certain, though, that Wood, Moore et al were so very upset about this?
Was it just some pantomime to add spice to what would have been a dishwater dull press conference?

He we go again, Dogbreath.
The fight was offered to Rhodes a few days after he had secured the British Title, to fight 2 weeks later, for shit money.
You clearly have a problem with the English language my canine friend, we are talking about withdrawing from fights, not turning down paltry offers.
For the record, his defence against Coyle paid 3 times the offer to face Pryce.
Bargain ?
When are you ever going to post anything original ?

come on, let's stop bickering.
moore isn't even fuming any more.
some of you lot are rowing, and the fighters are having a laugh about it!
end of thread?
unless anyone wants to discuss this intriguing contrast of styles, compact manchester pressure fighter vs unorthodox ingle style...speaking of that style contrast, we have another this saturday, john murray v jon thaxton.

Can you get it right? They're having a mockney, SunSport-language, lads-down-the-pub-speak "giggle". The word "laugh" no longer cuts the mustard, I'm afriad.

Payne, I don't know how you had the nerve to compare me to Christopher Biggins, while holding yourself in such high esteem that you think you can adequately portray professional handsome b@stard Paul Newman.
