This is a really good point and often overlooked. Lennox was never a master of in-fighting and was largely dependant on that thudding jab and big right. He had a bit more variety to his game, but against the likes of Tua he followed a very clear blueprint that is very similar to that employed by the Klits.

Exactly what i think, and its down to the rest to work out the tactics to beat this style which isn,t happening so instead they are labled as boring.

I think Vitali effective fighter not exciting though. How would Johnston do against other heavy?

i will admit that he has a punchers chance against wladimir, thats all.

100% agree :box: people are blinded by their dislike of the Klitschos to the point that they think Haye is some sort of second coming, The tactics against Valuev will not work against either brother and he,ll be even more worried about whats coming back at him than what the slow one dimensional Valuev threw.
does that mean he will use exactly the same tactics v the klitschkos?

methinks he gambles, tries to take their chin, in the big fights vs the K2s. if he runs and shows a lack of urgency in these fights i would be appalled. i just think he has to go for it, force a stoppage or an injury. or to just make a great case for himself, in defeat, so that when they are retired, he will be near the top. perhaps haye won't win, but perhaps he can dish out some punishment so that one or both of the bros retire a bit earlier, wear out a bit sooner.

let's face it, they are the 2 most boring major heavyweight champs in history. the sooner they are gone the better.
i dont find vitali boring at all, he's a ruthless fighting machine, who destroys anyone who tries to have a fight with him and totally dominates anyone who tries to survive.

haye has little chance of getting to vitali, he will probably fight like he did against valuev, except he will get hit a lot more. vitali punches with much more authority than valuev, and he is a lot quicker and busier too.

I actually finally believe Haye has what it takes to topple Vitali. Johnson showed that Vitali is actually quite limited. It reminded me of Dirrell vs Froch, where Froch just didn't have an answer. Vitali also didn't have an answer for Johnson hiding his chin. Does Vitali not know how to throw an uppercut?

If Haye can utilise the successful techniques Johnson employed and combine them with his own offence, he has a chance. He would have to be very quick on his feet to land on Vitali, though, and constantly use angles so Vitali doesn't know what's going to happen next.

If only Manny Pacquiao were 6' 3" tall. He could do it. :P

johnson was ducking below the waist and was totally negative, anyone would have looked awkward against him. johnson also showed he had a very good chin when he was nailed.

haye will be the one having to work hard to execute that strategy and thats not known for being one of his fortes. vitali however, looked absolutely fresh coming out for the 12th.

I didn't say awkward, though. Vitali had no answer for Johnson's movement. Nothing. He couldn't set up anything. He just stood there throwing standard punches. No angles, no uppercuts.

yes, but johnson was only able to move like that because he wasnt throwing anything back. to throw punches you need a stable platform, and thats how power punchers generate their shots.

similarly, haye threw very little against valuev, because he couldnt do so and move at the same time.

i think haye may end up losing to vitali, with the same tactics he used against valuev.

Johnston was a joke. He never came to fight at all, merely to survive.
