I think that is the way it is going to go yes.

I have a sneaky suspicion that David will oupoint anderson to be honest
I think people will be surprised when they see how much Anderson has improved for the first time since turning pro he's trained like a pro fighter, has had good sparring and is looking 100%, I will be shocked if it goes the distance.

You could be right hoop, as anderson is a bit of a banger, but it isn't so much of a crossroads fight, as a fight to prove his credentials at british level.
If he prevails, then he deserves to be in the title mix. I just think it will come too soon against fighters like smith, quigley, and dodson.
Have to say though, broken rib or no broken rib, he looked awful against King, and much worse that i have seen the top british SMW in fights where they have suposedly stunk.

I dont recall any off the other supermiddle weights fighting with a broken rib so you can in no way judge him against them on that performance fighting with a broken rib is not the same as having a bad performance, before that Anderson had 7 stoppage victorys in 9 fights and the two that did go the distance he won every round and had the other fighters down he was unfit and had hardly any sparring so thats not bad going really. Not every fighter need's 25 plus fights before getting a shot at a title, I am 100% confident that Anderson will stop David and look good in doing so and then hopefully he will be made manditory for Smith.

If he stops Paul David Hoop, he will raise a few eyebrows (mine included).

David is tough, unorthodox and has never been stopped before.

I reckon if Paul David can draw Anderson into his kind of fight it will be a difficult fight for the Scotsman.

NOTE: just noticed it is scheduled for a hotel in Glasgow - I dont expect David to get any favours from the ref's score card up there!

I have no doubt it will be a hard fight for Anderson, David is by far the best fighter he has faced, he is very tough and is very tricky but I've heard very good reports on how Anderson is looking in sparring from someone who has not rated him in the past that along with the power that he clearly carries I think David will be out of his depth. But your right David would have to beat him well to get the win up in Scotland, but that's just boxing. I think it is going out online so people should get the chance to watch it.

Let's face facts, he is doing well to be considered as a mandatory for a british title at this early stage of his career, but it will come too soon for him i am afraid, smith dodson, and quigley would all take care of him.
I have seen fighters with borken ribs and hands do more convincing jobs against more worthy opponents like king. Take smith for instance, broken hand against danny thornton, but still knocked him clean out in the 6th.
Kenny had a war with King.
This will be a hard fight for kenny.
But this forum is meant to be about smith.....

A broken hand and broken ribs are very different who have you seen fight with broken ribs?. You talk about Smith like he is the second coming of Pac he has had poor performance after poor performance and scrapped his way through his British title fight by the skin of his teeth infact many people myself included think Quigley won it, he should be giving Quigley a rematch before he defends against anybody. I think it shows his level by the fact he has had nearly 30 fights before getting a shot at the British title guys have become undisputed at there weight with less fights. I think he will beat Dodson though who looks to have zero punch resistance left.

And I suppose you think Thronton is more worthy than King aye!

Nearly 30 fights and only 27 years old....
The amount of fights shouldn't be a problem, people need fights to get back into fitness and get sharp again after injuries, of which I have had a few. Also waiting around for titles to become available or to get a mandatory position is a pain, and time consuming.
There's a lot of current and ex fighters that would love to have had 29 fights, but a few were matched badly, some had too many wars and a lot just didn't have it in the tank.
I am the opposite and I feel I have been matched very well, brought along nicely and haven't had any wars. I have plenty left in the tank.
I don't want bad performances, we'd all love knockout after knockout but they don't come all of the time. Especially when you look for them too much like I do.
I'm hardly a Matthew Barney(who with the greatest respect was a good fighter indeed, just not good to watch)
.... BUT I will (as you say) scrap my way to anything and everything I can do. I'd rather look poor and win than look great and lose. :TU:

agreed paul , i personally like to see a good fight of course but some of my favourites id rather just see win more than anything , i count you in that list for some reason , i think i got to likle you a bit in contender and followed you since , you seemed to not take no crap in that series and i think you should have won too (cant remember off top of my head who it was you lost to ) , anyway , keep doing what your doing , if you always give it your goddam best who can complain . (although of course people will always find something to criticise even if you become undisputed world champ , just how it is ) ;;-)

ps , why not have a go on our prediction league , wed all like to see how we compare to the pros on , it , go mate just give it a whirl :TU:

Why would that make me a dickhead? :oo

You make a number of twatty comments like me thinking Smigga is the second coming of pac, blah blah blah.

By the way, even if dodson did have zero punch resistance (which i think is bollocks by the way) that wouldn't be the one saving grace, the one way Smigga would win their fight.

I like what Smigga does, you like what Anderson does, it's pretty obvious. I just think a meeting at this stage, or any stage would be disaster for Anderson, but i am sure he will do fine against David ;;-)

Smigga keep punching lad, the only way is up!

Absolutely correct!!!

What is so wrong in stating a fighter is a domestic class boxer but not much more??

Smith has done a fabulous job in winning deservedly the British Title - but he aint in my view going any further!!!

Shaggy,

Its a while since there has been a ruck - lets start here!!! :TU:

The comparison you use concerning Sky TV pundits is absolutely awful - this is a boxing forum which caters for boxing fans of a wide and varied degree of boxing knowledge to simply give their views concerning the sport - I have stated on many occasions over the last 10 years - just because a particular poster may not be as intelligent as another - does he deserve to be ridiculed for what he has written or simply accused of not knowing anything about boxing .

I collect debts for a living - one of the punters on my round loves the sport but knows f*ck all about it, if that sort of makes sense - simply loves watching Carl Froch fight - but if you asked him to name any of his opponents he couldn't name one and couldnt even tell you what division Froch boxes in - does that mean he is not a fan and doesnt deserve an opinion??

I can count on one hand the amount of tickets I have paid for over the last 10 years - does that mean I know nothing about the sport, or as a prominent member in the sport once accused me of not being a fan!!! - F*ck me, I once had to drive that **** to 4 shows in one week!!! then 2 more the following and is he and others discounting the god know how many other shows that I have been too - just because I didnt pay to get in I know f*ck all about the sport or am not a fan??

But lets get back to this thread - Smith - regardless of what you state to the contrary - is not in my humble opinion having a pop at those who know f*ck all about boxing - he is in my opinion having a dig at those who have the audacity to state he is in their humble opinion only a domestic class boxer - it has in my opinion got to him - if I am so wrong - why mention the forums. Or is it simply yet another boxing personality wanting to use these forums as a platform to court favour with the fans and simply discredit or disregard those that wont bow down to them?

It's not a case of deserving an opinion, it's whether that opinion deserves to be viewed as having equal weight to any other. If he's claiming, for example, that Froch is the best at his weight in the world, but he doesn't even know the other fighters competing at that weight then I think I'm entitled to dismiss his opinion as worthless as it's completely lacking in credibility.

Honestly Spud, I swear you could start a ruck with your own shadow at times. You see digs that simply aren't there. I know nothing about Smith other than through his postings on here and yet he's consistently come across as down-to-earth, humble, committed to his craft, but also possessing a nice, dry humour and enough perspective to be able to recognise there will always be critics.

Spot on Spud, i could not agree more!!!

Also in that interview Smith has a few digs at Dodson, so we'll see if he can back his mouth up in March ...Lets not forget he failed to back his mouth up against Quiqley. He shouted that he could KO Quigley etc etc ........& for me failed to back it up!!!

yeah theyve sparred smigga said he was physicly the stronger of the two and was the harder 1 punch hitter, dodson said there styles will make a good fight, am sure i read somewhere the day after smith won dodson was txting and ringing for the fight, hes got it lets see if he really wants it

Smith was physically stronger???

Dodson is big at the weight, not exactly Froch size, but still big at SM. Like you say we'll see who is bigger and hits harder etc when they fight.

Dodson for me is a little battle scarred and i think Smith may use some 'tactics' to aggrevate some scar tissue, again we'll see.

Yeah i have also heard that the day after Dodson text Smith calling him out

the first ever post from the username above on boxrec forum. :TU: Don't really know what to reply to that.

Spud... A man I have seen at boxing shows numerous times, a man who prides himself on being an "arrogant pig-ignorant arsehole"(in his own words) who yes, knows a bit about boxing but has only ever took punches without gloves on when people have flattened him. I think Vegas comes to mind.

I can't really win by answering back to the criticism on the forums, not many fighters can. But the people that don't know much read your views and may actually think that you're as important as you think you are!

Your views are so biased it's untrue. You slagged Tony Jeffries off for no reason other than inside politics and the fact he didn't waste his career signing for your mate.... If you really didn't rate Tony, then you need to take the rose tinted specs off as you big up one kid who's just turned pro, to be the next big thing when in fairness, my brother toyed with him twice in the ams and is nothing special at all and has half the talent of Jaffa. IN MY OPINION(no disrespect intended)

So we will agree to disagree. You made your point about what you think my "level" is... Everyone heard you. The first time
I take your opinion on board as usual, and I will leave you to your soap box.

Completely agree, it is far less of a comments than what Dean Powell said about online forums - what was it again "killing the sport".

Only thing I do disagree is - knowing who are around Froch's devision isn't the be all and end all of knowledge. I know loads of people who could probably not name 10 active fighters - but I love listening to what they say ABOUT a fight watching together. They can read a fight so well - although I do have to say, in most cases - these people have stepped into the ring.

Spud just wondering if you have some grudge against Smith - your being pretty negative towards him. Wanting Dodson to win, just to shut up his fans/hype, saying he's just British level - scrutinising his record and coming to the conclusion that a guy with 10 defeats is his best opponent! (even though Banks was coming off two wins over fringe World class Aylia - away from home, two nice fights actually) and now being critical of his comments..

Not that I particularly want Smith to beat Dodson - I just want a good fight, which I am sure it will be.
