Hi Jane,

Thank you for the response!!!

Whilst personally I do not have a lot of "good thoughts" concerning how Richard has treated Dennis - I think you are being a tadge harsh concerning Richard and his abilities as a trainer - as already stated in a previous post - I honestly think his technical abilities are underated but I do know a lot of people find his personality very difficult to fathom out and it is largely in my opinion "personality issues" that have caused the friction between a lot of people concerning Richard - but like you say who is right and who is wrong is entirely up to people and their opinions.

Stu - thanks for the response pal!!! - long may our discussions continue - I like it sometimes when we disagree on issues and argue/debate our points out - that is the whole point of the forum - I am certainly in no way upset or angered by your posts - I simply love debating boxing and believe people should be forceful with their opinions if it is what they believe in.

I have quoted your line above - whilst I stated in a post in this thread "never say never" - I would be stunned if things turn out amicably - they state time is a healer - lets see what happens.
Yeah, not expecting them to be boosom buddies again - just would like them to show some respect for what they did.

Not surprised by your response at all - rather than concentrate on my "laundrette" gossip - why not concentrate seeing if you really are any better than a domestic class boxer who seems to be spouting just as much sh*t as me through your fans. Why dont you and your fans show Tony Dodson some respect - and for the record I think you win that fight but will laugh my b*llocks off if you come off the rails so early after your fans claims of being a "so called" world class boxer!!!

I find the laundrette comment particularly funny - you and certain other boxing personalities would love to come on here and have things your own way with people sucking up to you - when they dont you come out with your comments like the ones in your interview with Terry Dooley - another "laundrette" FACT for you - its personalities like yourself who are only appearing to be nice if things go your way - the moment people disagree you come out with your own subtle digs - when you are next in the laundrette trying to find out what sh*t gossip I am spouting - have a look for your teddy you threw into the corner and maybe you can find your dummy too!!!
 Spud, I swear you could start a forum fight with your own shadow at times!
By the way, you'll most frequently find it's not a case of other posters 'sucking up' to those involved in the pro game who take the time to come on here, it's a case of most of us being genuinely interested in what they've got to say. The type of insights you get from the likes of Bomber and Larry are, for me, invaluable as a fan of the game. I'm genuinely interested in pretty much everything they've got to say, ranging from their own career through to their views of other fighters etc.
15 years ago you'd have had to rely on the odd interview in print or on the TV and now, thanks to the net and forums like this, we've got direct interaction with the participants in the sport we love. We should value that.
I think you're perfectly entitled to have a different opinion to the likes of Smigga, but it's all about language and tone. People can choose to disagree and still have respect for one another. It doesn't have to descend into playground language.
It's that type of thing that will make a pro question the point of even coming onto the forum to post.
For me, although I can't post as often as I used to due to work commitments, boxrec is on a real roll at the moment with some really strong long-term posters, some great 'newcomers', and a really healthy dose of people involved in the game coming on - how great is it to see Jane Couch starting to post on a frequent basis now, for example? You've also got the great work Ian and his team are doing with Boxrec News.
Let's not drag it down eh? :TU:

Hatton Comeback - good or bad move - and in the ideal world if you were his promoter - who would the comeback opponent be to get the maximum possible gain out of things with the least possible risk.

 I'll let you get away with it as it's very rare that I get called a young man any more :TU:
Hatton comeback = pointless and potentially disasterous.
Best opponent based on the criteria you've outlined (as opposed to what's best for fans) would be... jesus... I'm really struggling here as the problem is that I believe he's so vulnerable now that even a light puncher could potentially trouble him.
If I was pushed I'd say one of the following:
1) a rematch with Paulie Malignalli, whose stock has risen once again but who still can't punch his way out of a paper bag
2) Kotelnik - can benchmark himself against Khan and Witter and should still have enough to come through this comfortably
3) Lovemore N'Dou - as promoter I'd hype up the 'revenge of the brother' angle and N'Dou is clearly not the fighter he was so even in Hatton's current state he should be able to pull out the win.
4) Katsidis - guaranteed crowd-pleaser but weight advantage with Hatthon and he's technically superior to the Aussie
5) JMM - though I say this with reservations as even with the weight and strength advantages it'd be a 50/50 fight

Lovemore N'dou is an excellent choice.

The avid boxing fan would rip into that choice - but Joe Public will come in their droves regardless of the quality of opponent.

it's a boring choice.

hatton UD.

n'dou won't get stopped.

but he won't test hatton enough to know if he still has it or not.

nate campbell is the opponent they should go for.

easy to make cos campbell is a goldenboy fighter now.

get in before floyd does. :TU:

kotelnik would be ok.

but he's been beat by both khan and witter now and is a poor man's hatton anyway.

katsidis has kevin mitchell on his radar. :box:

i'd be gutted if ricky stole him away from that fight. :x

marquez is too dangerous for a comeback fight.

too leathal on the counter. :o

campbell, torres, holt, is my top 3 to pick from.

Good luck with your fight - although as already stated I hope Dodson wins!!!

For the record - a question for you - lets see if you will answer ....

Do you think its wise for Ricky Hatton to make a comeback - he has done fabuously well - nope fantastic for himself and more importantly British Boxing - why do you professional boxers find it so difficult to walk away!!!

Surely Lee Beard will be the head trainer for Ricky in his next fight. He was practically managing the last camp wasn't he before they went out to Vegas?

Anyone think Ricky might actually be a better fighter (I aint saying than his 2005 best) for the years break.

People are saying he is in atrocious shape now.... I think he's been in worst and its not looking like he will fight next month. Got lots of time to get into shape.... maybe he will recharge the batteries and be better than some are anticipating.

There was an air of utter predictability when Hatton announced he was coming out of retirement for one last fight. We at Sports Watch have long liked Hatton, partly for his boxing but mainly for Sh*t Shirt Day, his habit of celebrating victories by wearing bad clothes for a knees-up down the pub. And the yellow Reliant Robin bought from the set of Only Fools and Horses. And for saying he would like Bob Hoskins — a short, balding, middle-aged grumpy — to play him if a film gets made about his life. Hatton's weight has ballooned and he looks less like Manny Pacquiao and more like Peter Kay in drag these days. It was great while it lasted but it's over. A comeback would be like a benefit gig. And not for him.

from the times.

whoever his trainer is, Beard or Gallagher, I hope that Hatton uses Kerry Kayes again. All of his best fights were with KK, I know he's got good boxing skills but if you think back to the Tszyu or Ray Oliveria fights, his best quality was his raw strength, he was just bulldozing people.

You can see the affects the CNP gear has on their fighters, like Murray, Macklin, Quigley, Jefferies they are all physically superb.

Yeah Jane, completely agree with Deserters post. Although we might not have got on to the best of start with this thread. Its great seeing you here, and I meant every word about the respect and regard with how I hold you.

My cousin never turned over, but thought about with the "dream" of fighting you.... thats no bad thing, thats the ultimate compliment. She would have never made it, much better Rugby player than boxer and was way to heavy for her height - despite being a model and with low body fat, she was 5 foot 2 and had big struggles to get under 10 stone.
