In what way did you think the commentators had it wrong, spud? Watt, Smith and Piper all at the end said it was a close fight but McDonnell last 2 rounds was too little too late. Isn't that the same as your view, given that you say Napa edged it.

I agree there have been worst decisions - I would say of the last 3 main events on Friday Night Fight this was the "most" acceptable. But still (and again) the wrong man won the fight, okay Dolan didn't lose to Norton a week ago but you know what I mean.

A rematch is now the proper option, and I'm glad its a fight that can be easily made - however it shouldn't be the option. Napa won, he should have this European title fight and Jamie should be fighting guys like Power, Davies etc in eliminator bouts. Jamie, in the defeat he should have had, still enhanced his reputation last night - so it wouldn't have been the end of the road for him. Its not for Napa, but its alot more damaging for the 31 year old.

Stu,

My comment concerning the commentators should have been explained better - they seem to change tact very easily to safe face.

Felt for Ian Napa last night,1st 2 rounds were close & lets give it to Mcdonnell,Napa won the next 8 and the last 2 to Jamie,Napa won by 4 rounds on my card.Thought Napa boxed Great last night,up against the taller fighter and made it his own fight.Jamie showed last night that he can boxed well on the domestic front and will do for a few years but the wrong man won,its simple,Napa was robbed !!!!

I disagree, I thought they called it correct - I agree it was a close(ish) fight my card was 7-5 Napa - but I did think I was being ultra hard on Napa there.

Even if did agree, don't really blame the commentators given the last 3 FNF - which is actually really getting me down. In what other sport are those that appear to win, consistently (it would see from the outside) getting jobbed.

As I said, I geniunally thought McDonnell was going to get the decision - not that he deserved it, just its becoming the "norm".

Napa looked good last night he outboxed McDonnell nicely, McDonnell had a good start and a good finish but the middle rounds were clear for Napa imo 117-112 was a disgrace

Just watched it, no way McDonnell won that. Napa by 4.

Parris needs to be strung up by his balls, or at least brought before the board.

Such a video does not exist as Mc did not win.

If you mean is there a video of NAPA being RIPPED off again - not sure but livefight.com might have it, or Youtube.

I'm wondering what fight a lot of you were watching? Napa by 3/4 rounds? You must be joking!

I went to the show as one of the Mcdonnell supporters, so your probably going to put my opinion down but here's how I saw it!
Jamie won the first 3 rounds by boxing clever on the back foot, he won the 6th boxing clever again, then Napa got him to fight Napas fight and then in the last 3 rounds he went toe to toe with Napa and outworked him and won each of these important rounds! It was close for sure, but a robbery no!

I haven't seen the fight stats but I would guess jamie threw and connected with nearly twice as many punches as Napa did! I spoke to a lot of neutrals, most with southern accents (like Napa), they all said it was the correct result! I think a lot of people have been swayed by the pro-napa commentary from sky!

I had Napa winning the right 116-112 after 12 rounds. I completley agree with what Spencer Oliver said McDonnell made a decent little start but he didnt find any kind of quality untill abouit the 9th round and between rounds 2 and 9 Napa won all of the rounds in my opinion.

I cant fault McDonnell because it was the first time I had seen him and heard he had a lot of problems outside the ring, but you could see through the whole fight that he had trained incredibly hard and that he really wanted the titles.

Napa was the classier fighter but McDonnell worked harder, how did one judge score it 117-111 or something I dont know.

I had it 116-112 to Napa I thought it was quite clear Napa won everything in the middle rounds McDonnell did it late and early but couldnt deal with Dappa's ring gerarelship.

All through the fight I was wondering to myself 'am I watching the wrong fight?' I was seeing lots of good work my Jamie , yet one pot shot from Napa had SKY going on like he was the second coming. When Jamie won I jumped up, not out of any hate towards Napa, it was like I had been proven sane! I messaged Ian after 10 rounds and told him that 'I was sure I had it closer than the Napa fanboys on SKY.' Little did I know Ian had plans to watch the fight on repeat

Standing there, looking good and throwing 4 punches a round does not win the fight. There was no robbery here, it was close, a case of 'what you like.' The only concern should be with the wideness of the card, but we all know a round either way make a big gap!

Well done Jamie!!!

very much the same as me. I was saying this is not the fight that smith and watt are making it out to be. I expected it to be a split decision and wouldn't have minded it going either way but thought McDonnell nicked it.

well i went too, and i had napa by three. when they read the scores out i would have been happy to hear all three judges give it to Jamie by a round, theres always that much room in interpretation, but I thought the wide card was a joke... im not sure it was competently scored, just arrived at somehow. If you were one opf the Mcdonnel lads then you were right up the back making all the noise, fair play to you but from up close a lot of his stuff werent getting though and what Napa was doing - counterpunching - was veryt effective and neat.
