You'd have thought he'd only fought bums for the last few years.

Look, he bossed Kotelnik, but just because he bossed him, doesn't make Kotelnik bad. Kotelnik was a proper 140lb fighter (which exposes as absurd those people who have argued here that Khan has only fought "smaller" fighters), and had only the fight before beaten Maidana. Since his defeat against Khan, he's pushed highly rated and undefeated Devon Alexander all the way in a fight many thought he should have won. Malignaggi had looked a transformed fighter since leaving McGirt, and had done very well against Juan Diaz, who, if we remember, was giving Marquez all kinds of problems before the great Mexican turned things around. Again, Malignaggi was a career 140 lb-er.

And Khan bossed both these fights in a way that no other boxer has done to these men.

Has he got a suspect chin? Yes, and I think that his time at the Wild Card has proven that, as there have been some murmurs emerge that say he's been knocked over or put on queer street a few times in sparring.

Might Maidana knock his block off? Yes.

But none of that changed that Khan is clearly a world class operator in a division packed with exciting, emerging talent. And given the crushing nature of his defeat against Prescott, we should be impressed that he was bold enough to recognise that things weren't going right, and move to a new country in search of something to get him on the right track. And his post-Prescott rebuilding process is pretty unimpeachable, and certainly will be if he fights and beats Maidana.
I agree, although I do think Hatton did an equally dominating job against Malignaggi.

Yes, but it was probably a worse Malignaggi than Khan faced.

You haters just make your own stuff up to hate about, Khan fought salita (his maditory) in december 2009, its september 2010 - so how has he ducked his manditory for 2 years? He hasnt even been a light welterweight for more than a year and a couple of months so even if he ducked maidana as soon as he stepped up - he wouldnt have been ducking him for 2 years.

He fought a world champion, then the manditory, the magic man, and now he's fighting Maidana - when exactly has he cherry picked?

Kotelnik was tailor made for khan, salita would struggle to win the british title and thats why khan wasnt overly fussed about facing him and again malignaggi was chosen as he couldnt punch his way out of a wet paper bag!Regarding Maidana well when that fight is confirmed il give him his dues for that.

People have been slating him for not fighting Maidana, the fight is on. What do you want?
Aside from someone saying in a thread that this fight is on where is the official proof that its going ahead?!

Kotlenik made for Khan? I don't understand why people forget the pre-fight perceptions made by the consensus of boxing fans. Kotelnik was a durable, skillful counter-puncher who most people thought that when he connected with Khan it was goodnight, me included.

Well thats what you thought,It was also a pre-fight perception that Kotelnik was the weakest belt holder at 140 when khan fought him!

lol your comments are a complete joke - salita was a manditory not a selection by khan, malignaggi was a fight to raise khans profile and show off his skills, kotelnic was his first fight at that weight and a world champion - who would you rather he fought? Bradley!! Now he's fighting the guy you were all complaining he was avoiding - he hasnt ducked anyone or cherry picked.

Avoiding Maidana for AGES? I don't often agree with Kingfinn but on this occasion he's right that you have been talking a load of shite. Khan only moved to LWW about a year ago FFS!!!

Well Maidana became the interim champion when he beat Ortiz and that was a reasonable time ago!

The Ortiz fight was only a little over a year ago and Khan wasn't even a LWW then so Maidana couldn't have been his mandatory at the time!!! Anyway, Salita was already penned in as the mandatory challenger for the winner of the Kotelnik-Khan fight which took place a month later. Maidana only became Khan's mandatory after the Salita fight in December last year. Khan has only had one fight since and it was against a decent former world champ. He has since taken a couple of months out due to the month of Ramadhan and will be fighting Maidana later this year (fingers crossed) so what's the problem? There may still be more questions about Khan than answers but time will show whether or not he is the real deal. Right now he seems to be doing all right. He's been avoiding Maidana for AGES my ar*e!

If that's what you really thought then kudos to you, but let me assure you, you were in the minority. Even the bookies had it pretty close. Kotenik was a strong champion, who had beaten an impressive mandatory, who had never lost a big fight decisively. It was an amazing win for Amir.

To be fair he was considered the weekest belt holder, considering bradley was called unbeatable. But he wasnt considered a paper champion he was a solid boxer with a good track record..

To be fair i think kotelnik is a very solid fighter! He has very good technique and he's very tough and has a solid defense.I just think his assets wernt enough against khan.Khan is a better version of kotelnik basically but with a suspect chin and thats why i think a fighter with the power maidana possesses is a more dangerous fight. Also one final thing Kotelnik won the belt off Gavin rees who whilst is a decent fighter i dont think he's true world level operator.

Hmm well they both won silver medals at the olympics and they're both very good technically! The only real difference is that khans alot quicker than kotelnik and probably has more pop! Also khan doesnt stay in his shell like kotelnik does but from a technical stand point they're very similar!

Ridiculous, mate. You said Khan is a "better version" of Kotelnik, so that makes the silver medal comparison absolutely obsolete. Both being very good technically? Could you be any vaguer? Kotelnik is an economic counter-puncher who is durable and holds up a very high guard. Khan is a fast, aggressive fighter with good power and a shocking chin, who incidentally has the power, precision and technique to become a lethal finisher.

Well its kind of in the name! They are both very technically sound fighters, they both throw very correct straight shots and they both like to work behind the jab. They also throw the same type of shots to ie the jab, left hook and right cross. They dont particularily use anything outside of that on the whole. They dont really throw uppercuts ie like a juan manuel marquez who mixes his shots up alot.Regarding the silver medal comparison being obsolte i dont see how it is?Yes i said khan was a better version of kotelnik but they both lost to mario kindelan who's probably one of the greatest amateur boxers ever!P.s i wasnt saying that khan and kotelnik were exactly the same just that from a technical standpoint they're similar.

If I told you it was day you would argue it was night. Khan is not similar to Kotelnik, in any way. IMO.
