I am telling you that Enzo DID NOT go anywhere in an ambulance, I could not care who wrote it. I spoke with him myself on the first floor of the Crowne Plaza after he had walked back from the LG Arean unaided. He was very down yes but did not go to hospital or in an ambulance on the night FACT.rhino222 wrote:david haye clearly says in his article on this site that enzo went away by ambulance......so it looks as though you were right mate......JamesH wrote:I have no axe to grind with Enzo, I think he's a top bloke and I have no reason for lying. I have seen refs kick a towel back out of the ring buddy, the referee is there soley to ensure the rules of the sport are adhered to. The very first rule is as we all know "Protect yourself at all times" IMHO the ref did not make sufficent checks that Enzo could protect himself (check the youtube footage, he does not do any checks and actualy pulls Enzo forward?) This in itself warrents a meeting with the EBU so he can explain why he did not follow protoco, this may help some other fighter in the future from being given 3 punches too many (and again as we all know may save a lifetime of missery or worse)

Cheers for that Rhino. I don't know why Taffytoon is so defensive on the issue - I was only relaying what I saw and it was out concern rather than malice... Whether or not Enzo got into the ambulance, I don't know, but the ambulance was backed up to the door of the arena and Enzo was definately WHEELED to within a yard of it - before that curtain was shut! Who Enzo spoke to hours later doesn't change any of thatrhino222 wrote:david haye clearly says in his article on this site that enzo went away by ambulance......so it looks as though you were right mate......JamesH wrote:I have no axe to grind with Enzo, I think he's a top bloke and I have no reason for lying. Re: Enzo maccarinelli
I'm defensive because the KO was brutal enough, it does not need to be made any worse by quotes that are untrue. Simple really, can you tell me exactly where you were drinking as the ambulance was stationed near the fighters changing room and nowhere near crowds of drinking punters?JamesH wrote:Cheers for that Rhino. Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Enzo refused to go to hospital on the night. He has since been to hospital for a check-up since going to Wales. He did not leave in an ambulance.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
You are correct, he also had some work done to his jaw. Enzo did not only refuse to leave in an ambulance he refused to go anywhere near it. The paramedics checked him over yes - the doctors in attendance checked him over yes - was he wheeled to an ambulance - no.RLewis wrote:Enzo refused to go to hospital on the night. Re: Enzo maccarinelli
By law fights can't go ahead without an ambulance on site. So there had to be an ambulance on site.
He didn't say he left in it, he said he got wheeled to it. The paramedics checked him over. Presumably they got to the arena on pogo sticks then?

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Last comment on this topic - The paramedics were sat ringside, there was more than 1 ambulance in attendance on the night by the way. If you want to believe Enzo was wheeled passed a crowd of drinkers before a curtain was drawn you carry on. If you do believe this then in your mind the pogo sticks may well be possibleorbtastic wrote:By law fights can't go ahead without an ambulance on site. So there had to be an ambulance on site.

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
I don't think it's inconceivable that he was taken to an ambulance for a checkover, given that all they have ringside are the basics and oxygen, which he was refusing at ringside. Also, given the severity of the KO and his subsequent reaction/bad condition - He was still needing help over 5 minutes later I don't think it's unreasonable.
It's SOP for people injured to be wheeled on trolleys or wheelchairs, I've been in A&E loads and they don't like you walking if they feel you're injured or have trouble walking. There's no shame in it?
It's already quoted elsewhere that he refused hospitalisation at Birmingham, preferring to go in Wales, so they obviously felt he needed more than a quick light in the eyes, you ok mate slap on the back. It's also reported today in the press he's had some work on both his jaw and cheekbone, no?

Here is what I said: "After the fight I was having a drink and saw Enzo wheeled out on a hospital bed towards the ambulance, before security shut the curtain"
And you return to your accusations that my quotes are untrue. Mr Toon, I post under my real name so I can't think why you would think I'm making this up? Because you saw him in the hotel hours later, does that mean that no one else could have seen earlier on? Stop being blindly ridiculous.
I was sat in Block K, and used the bar located straight in front of that exit. To the right of the bar there were locked doors to a smoking area (which for some reason noone could get through to). Between the entrance to block k and the bar, there was about 20 foot of space which was largely free apart from a small area of metal table and chairs, and then a metal barrier which prevented you going any further. The 20 foot wall had small clusters of people (I think three or four small groups), most of whom turned there heads to see if Enzo was ok. Seeing this, the steward flicked the curtain shut, and the clusters of people (including myself) just looked at each other with an 'oh dear' expression.
So once again, note I haven't at any point said he left in an ambulance but I do insist he was on the stretcher bed and he was at least heading towards the ambulance. I accept that it transpires that he didn't get into it, so it was a good job that I never claimed I'd seen that. But I wouldn't have claimed that, as I didn't see it. See the pattern here?
If you were as much aware of the evenings events and you seem to be making out, then you would know all this. Even the drinking punters managed to catch it.
Thank you and good evening

i like throwing these, if you aren't a 'natural' left hooker its a good way to add power. hell to time against anyone who knows what they are doing though.MatthewS wrote:the coach where I train is always getting us to do that on the pads, I manage about half the speed and power of that I reckon, amazing shot.Autobarn wrote:frenkel's punch, the way he dipped down and then came up, was like a rocket.

Poor Enzo that was hard to watch on Saturday when it ended. I hope he calls it quits and becomes a boxing pundit. Good show by FW.

Yep, love the big KOs too (don't we all) but it's always uncomfortable when a fighter is out cold. Without the poor reffing, the first knockdown alone would have more than satisfied the appetitie for "big KO" and Enzo would have been fine.crusader wrote:Hopefully he calls it a day. That KO was as brutal as it gets. Although I love huge knockouts, seeing a great guy like Enzo get layed out in that fashion was difficult to watch. He will end up permanently damaged if he continues.

And don't forget he crushed "the most ferocious fighter since Jack Dempsey" (Bobby Gunn)Bomber 1 wrote:forcefraser wrote:It tells a story that Enzo just wasn`t a top level fighter in reality. Every time he fought a quality opponent he has not only lost, but been brutally stopped by all 4.
It's easy to scope through someone's record and say he beat nobody, He beat a good fighter in Hobson,Dominguez and I had him winning last night, let's not forget he was winning against Afolabi too, Enzo is a high level operator and deserves credit, He has tried time and time again.. We should look at the pluses and try to put the negatives in a box..
Seriously, though, he's somewhere in the middle - true to say his worst defeats have come against his better opponents, but he HAS had some good wins. He wasn't undeserving of the world class label at his best. And what was impressive - and unusual - about his performance on Saturday was that even after four stoppage defeats, he showed no hesitancy in going on the attack. That, plus the fact he was winning, is to his credit, and even in defeat he can take some solace from the fact those shots would almost certainly have dropped/stopped anyone at the weight.

good points Oliver
another thing i was impressed with, I thought Enzo cut the ring off better than anyone else i saw on Saturday he made that ring feel very small for whatsisname.

Enzo looked good against Afolabi, too. For what it's worth, I believe that Enzo Macc is one of the most weak-minded fighters out there. If he doesn't blow you away, he gets despondent and starts to flap and becomes negative. That fight against Haye really messed up his psyche, IMO.Counter-puncher wrote:another thing i was impressed with, I thought Enzo cut the ring off better than anyone else i saw on Saturday he made that ring feel very small for whatsisname.

To refuse to go to hospital after that KO was stupid.
