Completely disagree.

The most recent HW version was dire, and included a former world title challenger and European champion (Skelton), a former British/Commonwealth champion and European title challenger (Sprott) and a man who held a win over Tyson (McBride)... and it was awful...

the super-bantams one was cracking as I recall, the light-welter with lynes, bami, cook and rees was not all that IMO... personally i think the fights make the tournament and in this most recent one we had a good old fashioned tearup in the shape of Smyth-Edwards, and we got a bit of drama in seeing if Dickinson could effectively run the gauntlet of 3 fresh fighters one after the other... if this were a conventional sky card you would not expect every fight to be a cracker, why should every PF fight be a mini-war? some fighters dont compete that way

Did they show much of it? Not sure how many got involved but it was a bit naughty for a while. Stopped serving booze after that

Not great, not bad...was looking forward to dodson-dickinson in the final

I don't expect every fight to be a war. Nothing of the kind. I expect there to be decent boxing on offer. Today was basically Dodson and a bunch of novices, only one of which is likely to go anywhere. That first fight was awful, Edwards was totally raw.
If all we want is a war, why not just have those terrible Toughman tournaments.

I thought this Prizefighter with the light-heavies was quite a step down from the last one (super-featherweights).
Actually, I don't think any of the PF's featuring the heavier weightclasses have been anything special at all.
The lighter weightclasses put on a far better show, as also is the case in boxing generally speaking.

First one I was disappointed in, poor tournament and did not feel any excitement about the event, Smyth/Edwards was ok for about 3 minutes and that was the highlight of the
evening, not sure the next one will be any better either to be honest.

Not the greatest line up ever. In my opinion they need to decide who it's for, novices looking to make a breakthrough (Casey) or former champions looking to bounce back (Dobson) because they really shouldn't have both as If the draw had turned out different you could if had a 2 fight novice (Billy Slate) fighting a former British Champion (Tony Dobson) and that would of been a complete and utter mismatch! The level of some of the fighters were poor they looked very ordinary.

it is unfair, the situation with the subs, and the level of the subs, but seriously now, what is the alternative? Morris goes out, sub comes in or Slate - who lost - comes in for a fight that according to the judges he lost to Morris... or do you wait to see who the 'best' loser is out of the four fights? i.e the one that loses closest on points, say?

as for the level of the subs - why not make it 10 fighters, and at the draw, the last two names out of the hat are the subs... so 8 fight as per, but all 10 are on the same level... the only drawback to this of course is that you could potentially end up with a high-profile name as sub...

Slate didnt lose that fight IMO, he took every round close for me... but there you go.

Smyth-Edwards should have been allowed to go on, it was a see-saw affair. I'd pay to watch Smyth again, for sure.

Dickinson - Bellew (assuming Tony gets past Oville) and the winner takes on Dodson... I think thats fair... winner of all that looks at McIntosh I guess, if he still holds his belt...
best loser from all 4 but then the wild cards know they have no chance, but think dodson should fight dickinson in an eliminator to fight bellew !

We agree at FTM and would like to make that fight.

Turns out winner of Bellew/McKenzie has to fight McIntosh - no news on any forthcoming contests for him on the EBU site, so Dodson/Dickinson might end up fighting the winner of THAT bout...

Prizefighter was a good idea in theory - knockout tournament with one winner at the end of the night. Fights are only 3 rounds so they have to go for it...

I reality it doesn't work - pros working at a pace they're not used to, so they smother their shots and it gets messy.

As a spectacle it's dreadful; as a meaningful result, it means little in the real world of pro boxing.

This Knockout tournament in pro boxing has always disappointed; though it sounds great.

Prizefighter is a disappointing and largely irrelevant side show to real pro boxing.

It needs to end. It's horrible.

Billy Lsate was robbed, I had hikm winning all 3 rounds. At the very least, they should have brought him in to fight Dickinson in the Semis and gave him his rightful place.

Slate has every right to be disgruntled.

I agree... I think its overly cautious but at the same time, they can't just treat it as one fight can they... if you turned up at the start of the night with that cut and they wouldn't let you box, hard to argue that you are ok to fight three separate men in a row.
