be a good opponent especially at short notice

Southpaw, Spanish and shite. Seems to fit the bill.
Yeah defo agree with you there. This bill aint PPV, never was to start with IMO.Eraserhead wrote:black panther wrote:Mate he's far from shite - he'd be a very worthy opponent at 3 days notice. True. He's not that bad. Just not what I had in mind for a 'world' title, PPV type event.
I dont think it does really. In the case of the majority of fans that will pay and see this card it will be Groves Degale and most likely if Warren gets a replacement Cleverly in a world title fight against a top 10 European.Glyn Leach wrote:This definitely puts Sky in a tricky position. As someone mentioned, they could be accused of double-standards here after the Khan fiasco — and the Khan faction are bound to be livid if Saturday goes ahead as a PPV, so Sky might want to bring their future relationship with Khan into the equation. That said, even as it stands this is a far stronger show than Khan-McCloskey. PPV level? Not in my opinion, despite DeGale-Groves being a very strong main event. But the big difference between this show and Khan-McCloskey is that we're in fight week now, many viewers will already have ordered the PPV — it hurts more to give money back than it does not to take it in the first place, and Sky are all about the money.
It'll be the death of the sport. 2 guys with 22 fights between them are topping a PPV bill without a decent undercard. This that it now for the winner? Should Degale win, are all his future fights to be PPV? Why would he want to except a pay cut in the future?taffytoon wrote:Give the PPV a rest for christ sake, if you want to watch the fights pay it, if you don't then don't. A load of you will be asking for streams come fight night anyway.
I've been there holding a ticket for a match that doesn't happen and it's a shitter - it doesn't help the sport either, everytime I think about buying a ticket I have to ask myself how likely is it that either fighter will drop out.Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Its more to do with people whinging about paying £15 for PPV compared to people who are travelling up and shelling out a lot more. Thry'll pull something outta the woodwork in terms of a Clev opponent though and it'll hopefully mean it can still go ahead with a World title fight on the card.
I think the points people are arguing are principles and precedents Taff, things that affect us all and will have a bearing on the future of boxing in this country. Valid stuff IMO and not just a matter of buy it or don't, though that will always be the definitive factor in any PPVtaffytoon wrote:Give the PPV a rest for christ sake, if you want to watch the fights pay it, if you don't then don't. Raffle it on here. Get anyone who's interested to pay £1 a go, stick all the entries in a hat and draw the winner! Might make a few quid of it backMachoMan09 wrote:This is the second big event in a row (previous one being Klitschko vs Chisora) where I have ended up with a redundant ticket. I am no longer travelling down for this, as Braehmer was the fighter I was going to watch and support. That's boxing.
No german TV stations bought the rights for this fight, it was going to be shown as PPV on a newspapers website... Universum doesnt have any TV contract anymore, and that is why they are down to 10 fighters + Maidada.danfoster wrote:Special prize for anyone who can tell me which German TV network bought the rights to this fight ...
This is actually one of my biggest bugbears with boxing. Ticket prices are high relative to other forms of entertainment and yet the ticket you purchase is not, as one would expect, for Fighter A v Fighter B but typically for "International Boxing Action" or some such. This allows the ticket sellers to deny refunds when a boxer, who is the reason for a ticket being purchased in the first place, pulls out.leforge wrote:I told people on here when people were moaning about prizefighter pullouts. That Brahemer would not turn up. I got £200 quid tickets not very happy won't get a refund as Warren will still have CLeverly fighting a bum!
FW's actual words were 'I'd rather they weren't at this stage in their careers ... But at present it's the only way we can get the money together to get these matches done.'smcb80 wrote:I'm almost certain in last month's Boxing Monthly that when asked if any of the three brits were PPV-worthy, Warren said not yet, but it has to be PPV for the fight to go ahead. not Sky's idea it would seem. now that the only world champion on the bill has pulled out, it's a no-brainer that this should be free.
Maybe if the Khan-McCloskey farce hadn't happened Sky would be able to get away with keeping it PPV, not so soon after though. I reckon Smith & co will do what's right and put it on for free. Only way either of the two lads on the main event (the real main event anyway) are going to get the publicity needed to launch their careers

Is rightMachoMan09 wrote:Come Saturday there will only be the anoraks (us) griping about this fiasco. Cleverley will be facing a pudding in his first defence as World Champion and the Welsh will lap it up. The average punter doesn't know Juergen Braehmer from Adam and providing their boy's arm is raised at the end they won't give a monkey's.
