No need for that shit.
Agree totally with this. What was it that Gavin said about Theopane, something like "I make more money than him so we should make that fight", something liek that I can't remember the exact wording but I remember thinking 'prize twat'.LeedsLad wrote:I agree with that mate....
There does seem a general theme with these young Warren fighters that they can't stop talking about money.
It's both embarrassing and disrespectful, to their opponent and the paying public. Carry on talking like that and people will want them to lose, and lose in amusing fashion, either by bullshit stoppage or robbery![]()
I'm not sure what was worse to be honest, Gavin's little jab at Theophane after a poor performance (illness notwithstanding, though I do think it was genuine) or the constant ''Curtis wants a payday'' crap. He just wants to prove himself as a fighter.... I'm sure a few people thought it was a bit of a gimmick when he turned over, but he's surely earnt the respect of everyone for giving up football and giving boxing a go.
DeGale of course is on a different level.... ''George, I'm getting more than you so I can cover your purse'', just made him sound even more of a knob than he already did. Probably one of the reasons why the crowd went bananas after the decision went against him.
I like both Frankie and James, but the talk about money has got to stop. Just get on with the job, FFS.

Typical Warren fighters, up their own arses, full of people filling their heads with nonsense before they've got anywhere and then they wonder why people laugh when they fail.

I don't think that it is just 'young Warren fighters'; we live in a culture where importance, talent and success is measured in terms of money. Young boxers are not to blamed or castigated for the culture they grow up in. Older, wiser and better educated people are marinated in the same beliefs.LeedsLad wrote:I agree with that mate....

Yes; I agree, in the scheme of things it is 'sad and pathetic' and I feel that you were lucky to be brought up in an environment where other issues and factors were seen as laudable and creditable. My parents had similar scruples and morals and I did not take them on board; though I do not see it as my business what they have and they are pleased I do not need bailing out every week.LeedsLad wrote:Without question.simon fox wrote:I don't think that it is just 'young Warren fighters'; we live in a culture where importance, talent and success is measured in terms of money. But I'm the same age as Frankie and was brought up not to talk about money.
It's just needless, some people are comfortable going round telling people how much they earn or how much they have in the bank... but I just think it's sad and pathetic, especially when used to score points over others.
Even my mother doesn't know how much I earn or what I've got in the bank, and vice-vera.
