Where as Holyfield split 3 fights with Bowe, losing 2 and one getting stopped. Holy's feet didn't help there, either :TU:

Holy 14st 9 in the 1st Bowe fight. 2nd fight he won. 3rd had flu and got stopped after puttong Bowe on the floor.

BOWE meant business back then, not shame at all.

Bowe would have stopped Louis early. Way too big.

:TU:

I personally agree. In his Prime, (which was very short), Bowe had great skills. Look at the pace he set in the first fight with Holyfield, and the range of shots.

Bowe had a great uppercut for a big man, he was a great inside fighter, had a wicked jab, and a booming right cross.

Louis liked to work in close, and Bowes jab, size and power punching would have been murders for Louis, who could be hit and hurt. Id have picked Bowe to just overpower Louis.

Bowe was no Primo Carnera, he was a well schooled and very talented fighter.

And I answered your point regarding infighting (BTW go watch Holy vs Qawi 1 for a lesson on infighting) I'm awating your admission.
you mean where Holy throws about a billions punches that sail over Qawi's head? i'm exaggerating, obviously, but Holy's success that night was when he set things up off the jab and moved. remember Lou Duva going mental (in a happy, 'you're doing what i want from you, kinmda way) about 'you look like Ray fkin Robinson in there!!!'. that was when he was box-fighting Qawi from the outside. on the inside i don't recall Holy giving a clinic on anything but hitting shoulders, top of the head or thin air.

Ali did not have a good body punching skills of even a great inside game, (other than pulling peoples heads down which was very good)so no mate Holyfield is the beter all rounder.

agreed :TU:

How about not even in the top 20 - does that count as two votes? I think Julian Jackson has a chance against him

Where was Holyfield's inside fighting against Riddick Bowe?

Lol this must be a wind up or now your just being naive or silly or trollish.

Thats about all they did in the 2nd fight and Holy out-fought him on the inside and the outside.

He could adapt that was the point.

James Toney showed that he had more skill on the inside than Holy during their fight, I would say :TU:

Because the thread title was misleading?

This whole thread is retarded. Evander never fared well vs any of the slick boxers he EVER faced in his whole career and suddenly he's the most skilled of all time . . .Holyfield was a great fighter but no-one who gets nailed repeatedly by Alex Stewart throughout 8 rounds is close to being the most skilled heavyweight ever.

How 'bout being schooled by Moorer, not able to dodge that south paw jab to save his life. But we have learned that Louis was a slow footed plodder, never mind that the guys he fought could not seem to get away from him but they were of course all bums.

many great fighters get jinxed by lefty's so that is a dumb statemant especially as holyfield stopped him in a return.

A dumb statement? The thread is about whether Holyfield was the best pure boxer i hw history but it's dumb to point out that he could not avoid the southpaw jab? As for the second Moorer fight, I guess you never saw it because Evander couldn't escape the Moorer jab in that fight either.

You mean in-between belting Moorer about like a child? He didn't just stop him in their rematch, he crucified him. What was it again? Five, six knockdowns?

Just to throw this out there since it was mentioned.

There are many fighters who were more technically sound than Ali but I don't know of one who had his natural, physical gifts.

Every pro athlete has won the genetic lottery. Some just won larger jackpots.

You think the second Moorer fight was a great effort by Evander? I sure don't, he had many fights at hw where he looked much much better imo.
