He hadn't fought in over a year before this, that's why. Fighters come out of the rankings after a year and go into the all-time, instead of active, rankings, whether they are retired or not.
thanks for the update,,, so bob arum dug up a stiff for Donaire to fight?
I certainly wouldn't put it that way, I was just answering you as to why he wasn't appearing in your search.

But yes, after tonight, Nishioka will go from "Donaire's best fight at 122 with a real chance at beating him" to "a cherry picked opponent who didn't try and wasn't active anymore". You can be sure of that.

Nishioka seemed to finally gain some confidence throwing his left in the 8th, hopefully we are actually starting to see a good fight break out.

Nishioka actually landed a little in round 8 as Donaire poses but they open up at the same time again. Close round 8 but I still like Donaire

Nishioka stalking Donaire now but Donaire is moving him around the ring a bit. Both landing grazingly then solidly. Nishioka catches him against the ropes and DOWN goes Nishioka? Ref stops it because hes still wobbly

Yup, it was the corner. Nishioka was still wobbly even though he made the count, he was going down again

You're high. Donaire just outclassed the guy with the best on-paper resume in the division.

Nishioka bricked it but that was fuckin' impressive.

You should blame Nishioka not Arum. The Nishioka-Marquez fight was a barnburner

How did the corner stop if they ran in after Caiz stopped it?

You haven't really paid that much attention to Donaire's career, have you?

I wouldn't say that a guy who's faced Darchinian, Montiel, Narvaez, Vazquez jr., Mathebula and now Nishioka, along with a handful of other solid contenders, going through 4 weight classes, has had the benefit of "mismatches because of connections."

He's just damn good.
